News from Windstream's President:


Great news! Today we formally closed the Windstream-PAETEC merger, creating a $6 billion Fortune 500 company. A great many people worked extremely hard to complete this acquisition, and I want to thank everyone for their tireless efforts.

This is the latest critical step in the transformation of our company to a next-generation telecommunications provider. We now have a 100,000-mile fiber network along with other key assets - data centers and cloud computing capacity, among them - that make us a strong nationwide competitor able to serve business customers of all sizes. Going forward, 70 percent of our revenues will come from broadband and business services, and you will see us begin to drive a national brand that highlights the growth areas of our business.

As part of that, it's important to understand Windstream is now a nationwide, enterprise-focused communications service provider with a commitment to being our customers' trusted adviser. We are determined to be more tenacious and attentive than our competitors and to deliver the right combination of expertise and advanced technology solutions to meet our customers' needs. We offer enterprise customers a sophisticated end-to-end suite of solutions that ranges from voice and broadband to data centers and cloud computing services, but at our core what we are about can be summed up very simply:

Smart solutions. Personalized service.

I think those phrases apply equally well to our consumer segment, and I want to emphasize that it remains incredibly important. Our consumer business provides a solid revenue foundation from which we achieve the consistent top-line growth that is absolutely critical to Windstream's ongoing success. In no way can we diminish our focus on providing outstanding service to our residential customers, and I know I can count on our teams to keep that priority firmly in mind going forward.

Today marks a new beginning for all of us. Let's use this time of transition to re-dedicate ourselves to exceeding our customers' expectations so that 2012 is a truly spectacular year for everyone associated with Windstream.
