The Story of
Sabian Symbols

In case you are wondering what these Sabian Symbols are, here is the story. The astrologer in this story is Marc Edmond Jones who founded the Sabian Assembly. The year is 1925. The setting is Central Park, NY. The clairvoyant is Elise Wheeler.

Marc & Elise met on several occasions in Central Park. Marc had 360 index cards on which he had written each degree of the zodiac.  He handed them one by one in random order to Elise whose vision of the degree became the Sabian Symbol.

Since then there have been other similar versions of the sabian symbols published and I've heard of mention of an older version that predates 1925.

IAA's FREE Lecture Series - First Saturday of Every Month!

Saturday, May 6, 2011
6:00 PM Eastern

There's Lilith the asteroid, Lilith the Black Moon (really the Moon's apogee) and Lilith the hypothetical (the one made popular by Sepharial and Ivy Jacobsen.) Some even call Algol a "Lilith Star". Each of these bodies works somewhat differently, though they all have some shared meanings. We'll focus on the first three and how, why, and when to use them.

Dear Friends,

I have some very exciting things to share with you this month.

I am presenting several lectures in three states this month and the next. It is interesting as I look back over the past few years and find that I consistently do the most lectures in the month of May! This is when the Sun is in my 11th house of groups of like mind.  Please see the side bar for my upcoming lectures. Recordings will be for sale at my website afterward if you are unable to attend.

I am going to be starting a Yogic Astrology podcast soon. It will talk about some of the current planetary alignments from the prospective of how to utilize them to raise consciousness and spiritual awareness in your life. I will keep you posted on that.

The UAC schedule is up and registration is open!  The United Astrology Conference is the "big one" put on via a united effort of major astrological organizations and offers the opportunity to hear many international speakers.  The next one takes place a year from now in New Orleans May 24 - May 29 2012. I am honored to be asked to speak at UAC. I will be presenting two lectures: Observational Astrology - Reclaiming the Sky on Saturday May 26, 2012 from 4:30-5:45 and Chiron as the Archetype of the Shaman on Monday May 28, 2012 from 9:00-10:15 AM.  Please visit the UAC website and come to hear many of the best astrologers in the world today.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Love & Light,

Julene

P.S. Remember I'm at Crystal Era Emporium in Elyria, Ohio the 1st Saturday of every month from 12:00 - 5:00. Come for Astrology, Tarot, polarity therapy, aura photos and a shop full of all your metaphysical needs.

The Energy Shifts from Aries to Taurus

If you've seemed extra busy this month, you probably were. All of these planets have been in Aries: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter & Uranus! Phew! That's a lot of energy around action and activity. And opposing that power house of planets has been Saturn in Libra, so the extra activities have been round work, and responsibility! The good news is, things start to slow down in the middle of May when in three of these planets enter the fixed earth sign of Taurus.

On May 11th, Mars enters Taurus. On May 15th Venus & Mercury enter Taurus. Make sure you take the time to slow down, and stop to smell the roses. Sometimes it is not the destination that is important, but the joys of reveling in the pleasures of the journey.

Planet Watch for May 2011  -  Observe Many  Planetary Conjunctions in the Morning Sky

The morning sky hosts most of the stellar activity this month with many conjunctions to observe. Venus, Jupiter, Mars & Mercury are visible in the east before sunrise.

On May 1st, Venus rises at 5:30 AM followed by Mercury at 5:40 AM.  Mars and Jupiter rise in conjunction at 5:50 AM.

On May 9th, Mercury conjoins Venus. Mercury will be slightly below Venus who is the brightest planet in the morning sky.

On May 11th all four planets rise between 5:20 & 5:30 AM. Mercury, Venus & Jupiter will be in partile conjunction (in the same zodiacal degree) in the morning sky. Jupiter will be highest above the horizon. Venus will be below Jupiter. Mercury will be below and slightly right of Venus.  Mars who is six degrees away will be to the left of this stellium. A stellium is three or more planets in conjunction.

And that's not all, the dance of the morning planet conjunctions continues.....

On May 16th Mercury conjoins Venus. On May 20th Mercury conjoins Mars. On May 23rd Venus conjoins Mars.

Saturn is the evening planet this month. On May 1st Saturn rises in the east around 3:40 PM and will be visible high above the eastern horizon as sunset darkens the sky. Each night Saturn will be higher above the horizon at sunset. Saturn sets around 5:30 AM at the beginning of May and 2:15 AM at the end of May.

Taurus New Moon: May 3, 2011

The New Moon occurs on May 3, 2011 at 2:51 AM EDT at 12Taurus31. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is "A porter carrying heavy baggage." The tightest aspect from the New Moon in this chart is the quincunx to retrograde Saturn at 11Libra46 whose Sabian Symbol is "Miners are surfacing from a deep coal mine."  A qunicunx is a 150 degree aspect that requires an adjustment. Saturn is the old way operating. It is tried, true and traditional but it also carries limiting beliefs that can manifest as obstacles in our path. This new moon asks us to not to focus on what is limiting or blocking us, but to back up and take a new perspective. It is about going to the depths to rid the baggage that is holding us back or getting in our way. This is a good month to look within the depths of our being, uncover the mental programs that define our outlook on life and determine our reality. It is time to let those paradigms into the light and ask ourselves a few questions.

Is it time for a new perspective? Are these paradigms really what we believe? Or have they been there entrenched into our core being for so long that we just keep replaying them out of habit? Are these repetitive programs we are running old and outworn like an obsolete broken record? Or are do they still make sense with who we are today and we are going?

Whatever the answers are, this new moon asks us to take a deep explorative look at our limiting beliefs, excavate them, and leave the baggage of those that no longer serve our purpose behind.

Another tight aspect in the New Moon chart is a conjunction of Jupiter-Mars squaring the Nodal Axis. We are being asked to become spiritual warriors on our own life path; to listen to our inner guide that resides in our sacred heart center, to take a leap of faith, and journey into new frontiers that are more aligned with our true purpose. Ridding ourselves of limiting beliefs and replacing it with inner will help us forage new paths, where we know internally we are being called to venture.

Revel in the journey, open your heart to love, beauty and bliss, let go of attachments to the outcome, and the destination will unfold itself before you perfectly and on time for the universe just works that way when we tune in.

 The 2nd Nakshatra: Bharani

Nakshatra 2: Bharani

Symbol: yoni, potential of creation via reproduction

Ruling Planet: Venus

Hindu Deity: Yama, god of death or dharma

Guna: rajas

Keynote: star of restraint & personal transformation

Fixed Stars: Almach of Andromeda, Menkar of the Whale. This is the part of the sky that carries things away, hence the association with death.

The New Moon in Bharani is good for initiating things involving agriculture, competition, campaigns, driving out toxins or negative influences, burning things. Bharani indicates the desire for new experiences often through struggling against obstacles when we've outgrown our current conditions or experiences. It indicates personal transformation in the sense of death of the old way to rebirth the new through a personal breakthrough. The New Moon chart reading above compliments and reinforces the energy inherent in the nakshatra of the New Moon quite perfectly. The universe loves synchronicity and through its repeated astrological messages, we gain confidence and faith in the arising themes of life.

New Moon Ritual for Bharani: A good ritual for this particular would involve a white sage smudging while visualizing negative energies and obstacles being carried off in the smoke. You can also write down on a piece of paper what you want to transform and burn it in a fire pit; letting go and offering it to the universe to work out the details. To involve Venus the ruling planet of Bharani and of Taurus, use some wood from an apple tree, or offer some pieces of apple into the fire as well.

When you cut an apple horizontally, a 5 pointed star is revealed by the seeds inside the apple. This 5 pointed star also occurs in the sky when we plot six consecutive inferior conjunctions between Venus and the Sun. This is why the apple is associated with Venus. It is also why the quintile and bi-quintile aspects are associated with Venus and the Sun and represent the inherent potential of creativity.

My gift to you this month is an hour consultation for my lowest rate $60. Let's rid those old paradigms and awaken to new possibilities!
