Oregon Youth in Action and Governor Kitzhaber launch youth engagement contest this Saturday
Did you know more than 1 in 4 Oregon youth are overweight or obese? Unhealthy weight puts these young people at risk for lowered self-esteem, bullying, depression, and discrimination. And, if nothing changes, they face serious health threats such as diabetes and heart disease as adults. Oregon Youth in Action is helping Oregon's young people to develop programs that will help their peers get healthy... programs that youth can relate to and will engage in.
OYIA and Governor Kitzhaber are launching a youth contest this Saturday that awards funding (up to $2,000) to youth teams with community projects aimed at reducing childhood obesity. You are invited!
