Federal Incentives for using certified EHR technology
WASHINGTON - U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today announced final rules to help improve Americans' health, increase safety and reduce health care costs through expanded use of electronic health records (EHR). Under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009, eligible health care professionals and hospitals can qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments when they adopt certified EHR technology and use it to achieve specified objectives.
One of the two regulations announced today defines the "meaningful use" objectives that providers must meet to qualify for the bonus payments, and the other regulation identifies the technical capabilities required for certified EHR technology.

Network seeks Silent Auction Donations Featuring Oregon's finest at the 2010 Annual Conference!
During your summer recreations around the state, please consider requesting donations that could be of value to the Network's silent auction during this October's Annual Conference.
As a reminder, we are encouraging each SBHC system to donate a basket of goods or services to the silent auction as a fun way to bring us all together to celebrate the many riches of Oregon.
Chances are, if you enjoy the sites, services or products particular to a specific region of Oregon, someone else will deem them worthy of bidding at our conference.
Many businesses will make in-kind donations of goods and services to non-profits when requested and presented with a letter outlining the cause and tax benefits. Download our donation request letter and pledge form at www.osbhcn.org/conference10/auction.
