Dear Athlete!

With two days until the always fun and important Race For Wishes 5K (Greenwood Village), the Cherry Creek Sneak in the books and the Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon Weekend  in 10 days, the running season is in full bloom!

Several topics pop into my mind, and like you I never have enough time to treat them completely. Nevertheless these are my top five:

  1. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man & Woman of the Year campaign - Some of you know I've been an advocate, a coach for Team 'N Training, a member of the Board of Trustees and a volunteer for 20 years for LLS. What you may not know is why. Click on my flip videoto learn why (please consider digging in to help!) and why it's NOT about me but about you!

  2. Jeff Galloway's Vail Retreat June 17-20

    Jgalloway

When I first came to Colorado over 30 years ago, I attended a running camp in Tahoe put on by Jeff and still rave about the experience! Although my schedule prevents me from going back to Tahoe, I will get to go to Vail in June! I'd be privileged to see you there!

Jeff's Running Retreats: Vail (6/17-6/20) and Lake Tahoe (7/22-7/24)

Olympian Jeff Galloway helps runners achieve goals while inserting joy into training. Over 300,000 have reduced/eliminated injuries and/or improved motivation and speed by using his programs. Beginners, Boston runners, and all ages and sizes will benefit. Jeff offers individual advice on improving stamina, efficient running form, motivation, nutrition, time improvement and more. If you are interested, contact

    Carol Besselman: or visit www.jeffgalloway.com

  3. Starting Line Corrals and Pace Groups for Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon (check out the main page):

Now that Colfax has grown to over 8,000, we need you to be pre-positioned in corrals with anticipated pace groups (thanks to Runners Edge of the Rockies  for assembling these good people!). If you're running the half or the full marathon and have NOT been assigned to a corral, they'll fix that at the Expo at the Denver Athletic Club on the 13th or 14th plus you can meet the good people from Runner's Edge there as well!

  4. RunPro Camp  set for July 14-17 in Minneapolis; Camp Applications Due by May 14:

Our good friend Ms. Pat Goodwin in Minnesota has created a brand new camp for emerging elite distance athletes. If you're one or know one, pass this along! This is your chance to dial up American stars for the future! Applications for the RunPro Camp are due by May 14 and may be submitted online or post-marked by that date. Runners who are completing their NCAA eligibility this spring, or within the last year, are encouraged to apply. The camp, as well as the web site, was created and developed by Team USA Minnesota with the support of a 2010 Excellence Challenge Grant from USA Track & Field.

  5. Entertainment and Water Stations on Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon (this fall's Melting Pot Halloween Hustle at Elitch Gardens will greet you just past Mile 8!):

Thanks to the hard work of Joe Ely (Colfax Water Station Manager), Lonnie Somers, Hallucination Sports  (Director of the Melting Pot Halloween Hustle at Elitch Gardens  and an amazing charity, the Tennyson Center, you will be energized in fun ways as you race down the Platte River Greenway path on the west side of Elitch Gardens (that opens this weekend!)

If you're in Columbus, Ohio this Saturday for the Capital City Half or at the Danskin Women's Triathlon at Disney World on Sunday, please say hello since I'll be announcing at both events!
See you on the trails,

Creigh Kelley
