Dear athlete!
2011: Amazing! The cold weather is hard upon those of us that run in the dark, dawn hours and many of you opt for the club treadmills (saw record numbers at the DAC!). The good news is you're getting it done in the weakest training cycle of the year, so congratulations!
Here's some good news for those of you that wrote and asked for a longer race in the first quarter: we've JUST added a half marathon to the Dam Run 5K on March 6th! The course is being measured and certified over the next thirty days, but here's a link to the MapMyRun version until we post the final map. If you signed up for all 5 races of the RunDenver Series and want to do this instead of the last 5K, you will be credited for the entry fee and pay the difference. The same is true for anyone switching up to the half if they already paid for the 5K.
This will be a great early long run in preparation for the Kaiser Permanente Half or Full Marathon on May 15th (yes, there are several others in between including the fun Platte River Half in April, but this one is special to us!).
Speaking of Colfax, we're really proud and excited to have two new features this year:
- Runners Edge of the Rockies will be providing the "Official" Training Program for the event and also the "Official" Pace Team Leaders for the Half Marathon and Full Marathon! David Manthey and his team provide a terrific service in our region and we appreciate his support!
- Hydrapour and Hydrapouch are teaming up with Colfax to provide a more cup-free water station environment. There will be Hydrapour containers at every station and Hydrapouches can be purchased at a special discount by visiting the Colfax web site. We'll still have the traditional cups, but this should significantly reduce the litter!
Our next two events are part of the RunDenver Series, the Polar Bear Run 5K on January 23rd at Washington Park (registration will open on this Friday at all the major running stores, including our Denver Race Headquarters, Runners Roost and the Super Bowl 5K on February 6th.
I'm heading to announce the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend so if any of you are there, please come up and say hello!
Thanks again for being at our events and continuing to support our wonderful sport!
See you on the roads and trails! |

Sincerely,
Creigh Kelley BKB LTD. | |
