Greetings!

Dear athlete!

May is an amazing month with lots of great events to choose from! On Saturday, May 8th (a perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day in advance!) you can go to Highlands Ranch and do the Miles For Miracles 5 Mile  (maybe you just did the Cherry Creek Sneak so you get another shot at a 5 miler and as a member of the Professionals Miracles Foundation board, I'll be on site), or go over to Edgewater and do the Edgerunner 5K that starts and finishes on Jefferson HS's track or support the Make A Wish Foundation and do the Race For Wishes 5K  in Denver's City Park! Three super causes are waiting for you to sign up!

You blink and it's time for the 5th anniversary of the Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon! with registration numbers 30% ahead of 2009, there's still time to put together a relay team or choose the longer half or full. I really think the half course is one of the fastest in the state and will have a later start time (6:45AM) than the marathon and relay at 6AM. Our friends at Boulder Running Company 1/4 mile west of I-25 on Arapahoe Road are headlining the Health and Fitness Expo at City Park on Friday and Saturday, 14-15 May so plan to get some great sales deals there! Need a Hydrapouch? They'll have 'em! On race day the good people from Jim 'N Nicks  are treating everyone to a BBQ sack lunch and Kaiser Permanente has put together a fabulous goodie bag for you!

Look for exciting news about the Liberty Run 4 Mile in Denver's City park on July 4th! We'll go cup-free again with Hydrapour stations and I recently participated in a webinar  about the "greening" of water stations at races (you'll see Hydrapour stations at the Kaiser Colfax Marathon thanks to the coordinated efforts of Hydrapouch and the Water station Director, Joe Eley). Purchase your own hydrapouch at your favorite running store. Click here for the list. If you're a member of Runner's Edge of the Rockies  or Galloway's Training Group you probably already have one!

BKB continues to recruit strong, fun, sleep deprived "weekend warriors" to be part of our growing weekend event staff. If you're interested, email Shannon Koch at shannon@bkbltd.com to get the details!

My good buddy, Hal Higdon, contributing editor for Runner's World Magazine, will be at the Boulder Bookstore the week before Bolder Boulder signing copies of his new novel Marathon as well as his best-selling Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide. Look for Hal at 7:30 on Wednesday May 26. If you haven't picked up a copy of Marathon, it's a fascinating read!

If you happen to get this in time, the Colorado Runners Association has a May 3rd event at Runners Roost Aurora  at 6pm for the National Physical Activity Plan (NPAP). Let's get Colorado ACTIVE and living a healthier lifestyle! CRA is an Organizational Affiliate of NPAP.

Finally, you have to have noticed all the bikes in racks in Downtown Denver! It's the nation's first large-scale citywide bike sharing system! For any of us that travel overseas, this makes a huge amount of sense and is fun! Check out "the two wheel revolution"!

Those of you that follow the fast athletes on the track, were you surprised that Chris Solinsky popped a new American record of 26:59 in Palo Alto? He's part of the Nike Oregon Project and this bodes very well for the US this summer! Larry Eder's RunBlogRun is a fun read!

Have a great month of training and racing!
Sincerely,

Creigh Kelley

Sunday, May 16th - Start and Finish in City Park
Colorado's community marathon is right around the corner.

It's Colorado - you've been running all winter!  Now show off your stuff.  You pick the distance, we provide the fun across Denver, Lakewood, and Aurora.  We have tech3 Guys shirts for each runner, medals for every finisher, and age group awards.

Run a full marathon or a half marathon if you love those longer distances.  OR build a relay team with 4 friends and 'compete' against your rivals at work.  Imagine the bragging rights as you cruise by your colleagues.  Covet the 6.6 mile leg for yourself, and give the 3.8 mile leg to the accountant down the hall.  Kids fun runs and Race Expo are on Saturday.
