Ovarian Cancer is known as the silent killer.  Most "survivors" are fighting the cancer.  It can be a life long battle.

Please take a moment and to listen to this video from a courageous woman.

Greetings!

Any of you anxious to see the snow gone from your favorite trails? I am, although my dog, Wesley, is completely happy with all of it and more! He's 90+ pounds of running muscle and works out every other day with me (his easy days!) and the other day with Sammy PBIINyamongo a local Kenyan who just ran a 1:06 half and is preparing for the Green Bay Marathon (his speedwork days!)! I should enter them into the Denver Dumb Friend's League Furry Scurry ...wonder if they have prize money Wink ?

Looks like around 150 of you hardy souls will get your 3 time Finisher Medallion at the finish line of the Assurant Health Dam Run 5K on Sunday, March 7th! Maybe, just maybe we'll get a decent weather day to do the flat, fast out and back course on the closed to traffic course!

My personal schedule is just about updated and posted on the BKB web site. My next stop is at Disney (here's hoping the weather is a bit warmer than the Marathon weekend in January)!

One of the events I'm going to attend is brand new, the Race For Awareness and my good friend Jodi Brammeier, a fellow runner, is bringing this event to you on June 5th in City Park. She's battling ovarian cancer and I thought you'd like to see a quick video clip from her. Those of you that are in a similar fight or have become a survivor are completely impressive to those of us on the sidelines. That's why we celebrate your courage and spirit!

March is Runnin' of the Green Lucky 7K and a good way to get psyched up is to attend the Colorado Endurance Conference the day before (March 13th) at the Denver Athletic Club! They've arranged a special discount to encourage your attendance so please join us on Saturday and then we'll see you at the starting line by McCormick's on Sunday!

Did you notice the Mile High Mile moved up to mid April? State Capitol...only 1 mile...helps kids...check out the video.

Kaiser Permanente is bringing you this year's Colfax Marathon Weekend and one of the best parts has to be the Kid's event on Saturday! Our good friend, Kerry Vargo has put together a not to miss morning at City Park! She's tireless and just visited one of the participating schools.  Have a school not yet participating? Email Kerry at kra@kidsrunningamerica.org.

Like so many events this year, Colfax is also using Hydrapour stations to reduce paper cups at water stations! Check out what Baylor University (TX) is doing in their half marathon on March 20th...totally cup free!

Some of you know I am very involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and with the two series, Trekwomen and Danskin. They have teamed up for a special presentation by National Spokesperson, Sally Edwards (former world record holder for Ironman Master's competition). If you are a female cancer survivor in any stage of fitness and recovery, this is for you! "Inspiring the Athlete Within" is the topic on March 25th at Peak Community Wellness Center in Littleton at 6:30pm. It's free and I promise you it will be inspiring and helpful!

A friend of mine, John Garvey who is a personal trainer/coach, did an interesting review of Born to Run (he and I had a considerable discussion on the new, favorite topic, "barefoot running"). Check it out!

Those of you that get to the Road Runner Sports running store in Westminster have a "must" training run the first Saturday of every month: it's a Breakfast Run with a REAL breakfast cooked on site! Bart Yasso and I missed it by a few hours when he appeared there for a book signing and it's coming up again on March 6th!

Finally, I discovered a site I think you'll enjoy, the Denver Running Examiner.  Kimberly Bogin, a fellow athlete will entertain you with her writing! I'd be remiss if I didn't give a high five to our friends and advocates at Bike Denver for putting together Vest Fest West on March 20th. Cyclists and multi-sport athletes need to support these good people!

I'll see you on the roads and trails!
Sincerely,

Creigh Kelley
