    The San Diego Ride for Autism returns on Saturday, August 6th, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit The Autism Society of San Diego! All motorcycle makes & models welcome. This year's Ride will start at Biggs Harley-Davidson / Buell in San Marcos and end at the Gaslamp Restaurant and Bar in Long Beach. Register on-line and you are guaranteed a free t-shirt in classic black.

     

    * Don't miss San Diego's, "The Kingmen," entertaining the crowd in San Marcos

    Bring the entire family to enjoy a swim in an indoor, heated pool with free pizza and drinks. Lifeguards are provided. For safety purposes, no floatation devices or "floaties" are permitted.     ** Admission is free but a $5 donation is suggested per family to help cover the cost of the food and  venue
     
    ** Unfortunately, we will no longer be serving GFCF pizza. If you have specific dietary restrictions, feel free to bring your own food
     
    ** For the safety of your children, we ask that you do not enter the pool area until 6:00 pm

    AMC Entertainment (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the Sensory Friendly Films

    program.

     

     
    NEW RECREATION ACTIVITY FOR  TEENS AND ADULTS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM: Saturday, August 20
    Adults SwimmingOur pool party for teens and adults, ages 16 and up, will be held on Saturday, August 20 from 2:00- 4:00 pm at the Aqua Pros Swim School at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 4635 Clairemont Mesa in San Diego. This event is free and will include light refreshments. Lifeguards will be on duty.  Participants requiring supervision will beed to be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Please RSVP by contacting the Autism Society office at 858.715.0678 or [email protected]
     

    THERE IS STILL SPACE AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR CAMP I CAN AT AT TOBY WELLS YMCA

    Camp I CAN logoRegistration for the 2011 season of Camp ICAN (Camp Including Children with Autism Now), the only camp of its kind in the county specifically designed for kids and teens on the autism spectrum, is underway.  There are still some spots available at Toby Wells YMCA in Kearny Mesa.  The Palomar Family YMCA in Escondido is full.

    Registration forms are available at the Autism Society of San Diego website. Please visit: www.sd-autism.org for camp schedules, additional camp information and to download this year's registration form.

     

    ** Do you need help with camp tuition this year?  Financial assistance may be available through the generosity of a community agency that has set asisde funds specifically to assist families who have been affected by extreme financial hardship and/or Regional Center budgetary changes.  Please contact our office for more information about how to apply at [email protected] or by calling 858-715-0678

    Summer is here and the party is at the pool.   North County families can enjoy a pool party with food, drinks and fun.

    Pool parties will be held the last Saturday of each month through the summer until further notice.

    Our goal is to provide a comfortable environment where you can form lifelong friends and network. The group provides a safe, welcoming, family atmosphere to all its members, at each event. Every event is a fun, low cost activity that will bring the group together through its goal of working on existing and forming new social skills.

     The North County Support Group will no longer meet on a monthly basis. Check our website, facebook or enews for upcoming meetings  
      
    There will be no north county support group meetings during the summer months.  However group members are invited to meet up for dinner and drinks every second Monday night during June, July and August.  Dinner information will also be posted on the North County Yahoo Group.
