CAMP I CAN SUMMER KICK-OFF PICNIC
CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF FUN

Camp I CAN logoJoin past, future and current campers, staff, and their families at this upcoming Camp I Can kick off picnic to celebrate 10 years of fun!  This is a meet and greet designed so that your family can meet the staff of Camp I Can 2011, get information on the activities at the camp and also ask any questions you may have in regards to camp. Since this is our tenth year we are inviting past campers and counselors and staff to come down and help us celebrate!

 

WHEN: SATURDAY JULY 16TH FROM 2-4PM

 

WHERE: TOBY WELLS YMCA UNDER THE GAZEBO, 5105 OVERLAND DRIVE, SAN DIEGO

 

WHO: YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!!! WEAR YOUR OLD CIC SHIRTS, AND BRING PICTURES TO SHARE!!!

 

We will have hot dogs, drinks, and chips available for a $3 donation.  All proceeds will be used for equipment and materials for Camp I Can.  Please RSVP at CAMPICANYMCA@YAHOO.COM

 

 
ANNOUNCING A NEW RECREATION ACTIVITY FOR  TEENS AND ADULTS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM
Adults SwimmingAnnouncing a new recreation activity for adults on the autism spectrum.  Our "Inaugural" pool party for teens and adults, ages 16 and up, will be held on Saturday, July 23 from 2:00- 4:00 pm at the Aqua Pros Swim School at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 4635 Clairemont Mesa in San Diego. This event is free and will include light refreshments. Lifeguards will be on duty.  Participants requiring supervision will beed to be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Please RSVP by contacting the Autism Society office at 858.715.0678 or info@sd-autism.org
 

THERE IS STILL SPACE AND FINANICAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR CAMP I CAN AT AT TOBY WELLS YMCA

Camp I CAN logoRegistration for the 2011 season of Camp ICAN (Camp Including Children with Autism Now), the only camp of its kind in the county specifically designed for kids and teens on the autism spectrum, is underway.  There are still some spots available at Toby Wells YMCA in Kearny Mesa.  The Palomar Family YMCA in Escondido is full.

    The San Diego Ride for Autism returns on Saturday, August 6th, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit The Autism Society of San Diego! All motorcycle makes & models welcome. This year's Ride will start at Biggs Harley-Davidson / Buell in San Marcos and end at the Gaslamp Restaurant and Bar in Long Beach. Register on-line and you are guaranteed a free t-shirt in classic black.

    Summer is here and the pary has moved from the gym to the pool.  Now through August, North County families can enjoy monthly pool parties with food, drinks and fun.

    Pool parties will be held the last Saturday of each month.

    ASPIES AND FRIENDS, A SOCIAL GROUP FOR ADULTS ON THE SPECTRUM, GOES SWIMMING
    Autistic AdultsThis support/social group provides a casual, safe environment where young adults can form lifelong frienships and network with one another.  Every event will revolve around a fun, low cost activity that will bring the group together while working on the formation of new and existing social skills.
      
    July's meet up will be in conjunction with the Autism Society of San Diego's teen and adult pool party, to take place on Saturday, July 23, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Aqua Pros Swim School at Clairemont Boys & Girls Club, located at 4635 Clairemont Mesa Blvd,  San Diego, CA 92117 (see article above for more details)

     The North County Support Group will no longer meet on a monthly basis. Check our website, facebook or enews for upcoming meetings  
      
    There will be no north county support group meetings during the summer months.  However group members are invited to meet up for dinner and drinks every second Monday night during June, July and August.  Dinner information will also be posted on the North County Yahoo Group.
