All Out for Autism: Island Dreams

Our biggest event of the year!

AOA 2010 color logoAll Out For Autism, our annual fundraiser for Camp I CAN and other recreational programs for kids, teens and adults on the Autism Spectrum, is coming up on April 24, 2010. This year's event will be held at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, La Jolla and will be hosted by KUSI anchorwoman, Lena' Lewis. Former San Diego Charger, Gary Plummer, and former San Diego Padre, Jay Johnstone will share auctioneering duties. Some of the evening's exciting activities include a VIP chef demonstration and book signing with Food Network's Kevin Roberts, "The Food Dude,"  a celebrity cocktail hour with former Chargers football players Gary Plummer, Darren Carrington and John Carney; a live and silent auction, and a shark-tank fundraiser with San Diego's Finest Fireman.

The French Gourmet will provide island-inspired cuisine; Island Fever Band will perform live Caribbean music and exciting entertainment; and magician Magic Mike will be there to wow the crowd with his amazing tricks and illusions.

The waiting list for Camp I CAN grows every year and every year the Autism Society of San Diego makes it a priority to send as many kids to camp as possible. This year is no different. But in these challenging economic times, the Autism Society of San Diego is finding it more and more difficult to meet the growing need.

For tickets and information, please visit the Autism Society of San Diego website at www.sd-autism.org.please contact the Autism Society office at 858-715-0678 or [email protected].

In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing - in other words, AMC's "Silence is Golden" policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned.
