Fall Header
TopDear Friends,

Holiday events are already in the works here on campus. We are excited to be celebrating in the Social Center starting with our Veterans Day Program on November 10th.

We are also excited to announce the remodeled north dining room was officially open for lunch yesterday, November 3rd, for residents on C-D wing! Following this opening, the new kitchen will open on November 8th, and residents on A-B wing will begin eating in the north dining room next week.

Hard to imagine that less than a year ago we were breaking ground for this project.

Sincerely,

Dion

Holly Freese
Holly Freese: Third Quarter Employee Star

Holly Freese is an LPN at St. Francis Manor. Originally from Colo, Iowa, she now lives in Kellogg, Iowa. Holly's duties as a floor nurse include passing medication, doing treatments, charting and assessing residents.

"I also do some Medicare billing for our residents who receive therapies," says Holly. "I enjoy the time I have passing medications - it gives me a chance to chat and spend time with the residents."

In her spare time, Holly loves to plant flowers and watch hockey. She's also a huge gamer - she loves to play her Wii and XBox!

Honorable mentions for employee star included: Crystal Carman, Denise Sedlock, Dianna Hoye, Donna Puls, Julia Roland, Kayla Sherwood, Lindsey Eakins and Tonya Robinson.

Here are some of the comments made by our staff in voting for the "Employee Star" event:

"Thanks for being so kind and helpful to the nurses."

"Thank you for helping a resident back into their room as you were leaving from your shift. Way to put the resident first!"

"She spends so much one on one time with the residents."

"Thanks for passing out water pitchers for us today when we were so busy."

"They go above and beyond."

"Such a hard worker, always here and never complains."

The employee star is nominated quarterly by

St. Francis Manor Staff. It is to be a person who

exhibits quality, care and exemplary work. A

committee reviewed and chose the most qualified candidate which was Holly for third quarter. Prize is one full day off work with pay!

Winner of first quarter was Cassie VanDee, LPN and second quarter was John McCulley.

Charitable IRA Benefit Ending this Year: Start Planning Now

Over the year we've mentioned different ways to get involved through giving. As the fiscal year is ending soon, so is the opportunity to give through your IRA.

The tax system has long encouraged charitable giving. For example, gifts to qualified organizations (St. Francis Manor Foundation is one) allow you to deduct from income that otherwise would be subject to taxes.

Click HERE to go to our website and view more details to see if you are qualified. The deadline for this option is December 31, 2011 - talk to your qualified financial consultant today.
