Greetings!
This is starting out to be an incredible year for WFA. Through the amazing work of our grantees, the growth of WFA's Girls of Promise conferences to eight campuses, and the increased participation in WFA's committees around that state, more and more women have become involved in helping support Arkansas's women and girls.
Each month - and especially this month, Women's History Month - we strive to keep you informed about the needs of our state's women and girls, as well as opportunities to stay - or become - involved.
We hope you will enjoy the articles in this months e-Newsletter and share your thoughts with us on WFA's FACEBOOK PAGE.

Grantee Highlight: Girls Inc.
Women's Foundation of Arkansas granted $2,500 for a Girls Dig It! program at Girls Incorporated of Fort Smith.
Mission Statement: Girls Inc. of Fort Smith is committed to providing a safe environment with educational and recreational programs that encourage girls to take risks and master physical, intellectual, and emotional challenges.
Grant Funding: Girls Dig It! gives Ft. Smith area young women participating in the Girls Inc. program a more detailed look into the dynamic world of archaeology. The program bridges the sciences and the humanities, combining the tools of scientific disciplines with the interpretive practices of humanities' disciplines such as history, art history, anthropology, linguistics, philosophy, folklore and folk life. The program introduces the girls to the analytical and interpretive skills used in these disciplines, as well as to the epistemological and ethical questions raised by archaeological investigation.

Designing Women
Join us in honoring ARKANSAS DESIGNERS Cindy Momchilov (photography), Nancy Ferrara (graphic design), & Yslan Hicks (theatre design) at Designing Women on April 17!
Guests will shop a DESIGNER MARKETPLACE featuring items by Jamileh Kamran Designs, Bella Vita Handmade Jewelry, Kate Bear Fossils, LcB Nail Lacquer & more!
Calling attention to the many design fields employed by the honorees and vendors allows WFA to draw a visible connection between women actively working in careers utilizing ESTEM (economics, science, technology, engineering and math) and WFA's Girls of Promise program, a conference series held annually for 8th grade girls on college and university campuses across the state. A salute to Girls of Promise Alumnae ESSAY CONTEST winners, hors d'ouevres, beverages, and networking round out the event.
Proceeds from Designing Women allow WFA to award GRANTS to deserving projects & programs and help support the Girls of Promise program.

Conversations: Miss Representation
The film MISS REPRESENTATION exposes how Americans - and, especially its youth - are being sold the concept that women and girls' value lies in their youth, beauty and sexuality. The film strives to break that cycle of mistruths, while seeking to empower women and girls to challenge limiting media labels in order to realize their potential.
Sponsored by Conger Wealth Management, WFA and the UALR Gender Studies Department will be hosting a screening of the film followed by a panel discussion on Thursday, April 26 at 6:00 PM.
Watch your email & our WEBSITE for more information about this and other screenings across Arkansas!
