Greetings!
Holidays and approaching winter - two things that encourage pensiveness. At WFA, we are reminded of all that has occurred over the last year: people we've met, people who have helped us out, people who have become close friends and supporters... We are extremely grateful to all of you for all you have done for and with us this past year. We are looking forward to working with you again in the New Year and to the prospect of forging new friendships. |

Highlights from Giving Circles Workshop
"Giving Circles: Using our Collective Power for Strategic Impact" on November 19th was a success! Over 40 people attended from around the state. Speakers included Darryl Lester from North Carolina, Erica R. Waples from New York, and members of the Hot Springs Giving Circle. All attendees agreed that the workshop was "most helpful."

From the Executive Director's Desk

This Fall I've had the opportunity to meet with Executive Directors in our area to learn how they work, what they do, how they structure their grant-making, what staff their offices employ and much more. I've been fortunate to meet with Dawn Oliver at the Women's Foundation of Greater Kansas City; Ruby Bright at the Women's Foundation of Greater Memphis; and, Lila Lentz of the Women's Fund of Middle Tennessee in Nashville. Just this past week I attended a gathering in Memphis of all the Executive Directors from the Southern Region. It was exciting to meet and visit with women from Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky. I returned home with lots of information and great ideas to help the Women's Foundation of Arkansas be a more effective resource for the women and girls of our state. A "scan" had been conducted of all the women's funds in attendance, data compiled and a report produced and distributed at the gathering. The scan was developed to document the common work of the participating Women's Funds in the South. It was wonderful to see how our Foundation in Arkansas fits into a much larger framework established to address the myriad issues impacting Southern women. At the gathering, it was evident everyone present came with the desire to align their common goals so as to create the change we all strive to see locally, regionally, nationally and for the world. We left knowing that together, our women's-led efforts through intensely focused grant-making locally can combine to achieve a greater impact on poverty reduction and economic security for women in the South. Isn't it nice to be among such friends? I'm glad you are! Here's to a Happy New Year for all of Arkansas' women! Lynnette |

Finally, we want to take a moment to recognize some amazing women: Eileen Denne, Monika Hemenway, Joy Matlock, Ronya McLelland, Karen Potts, Mary Van Eaton and Lori Wheeler. These women have volunteered over 60 hours - just in the past month! - with the Women's Foundation.
We want to involve YOU in the important work of the Foundation wherever and whenever we can. Drop by and visit us, send an email, visit our website... let us hear from you! As we all know, a group of women with a single purpose can achieve ANYTHING! Together, we can ensure a better future for all the women of Arkansas. |

This holiday season, make a gift to the Women's Foundation of Arkansas in honor or memory of a mother, sister, daughter, mentor or friend. We'll make sure to send a holiday card notifying her or a family member of the amazing work that will be done for the women and girls in our state just because of her! | |
