Greetings!

At Trainspotters we make a virtue of the fact that the majority of our stock is original and reclaimed.
Whilst many of the older established lighting dealers in the UK have steadily replaced original with reproduction, we have focussed our efforts on building large stocks of old and original lighting that can be supplied in quantity.
That said, there are instances when a light is in such demand that our stocks of originals simply can't satisfy orders.
Hence the creation of the Trainspotters Dunlop light and the recent addition of our Classic prismatic bulkhead, both high quality British made products.
The same holds true with certain types of mid-century furniture, which is in unprecedented demand right at the moment.
Tubular metal furniture in particular lends itself perfectly to the functional and understated design aesthetic of many current commercial projects, and we simply cant get enough of it.
And so we are delighted to unveil our re-make of the classic mid-century stacking tubular and ply stool, ubiquitous in universities, colleges and schools of the period.
Again manufactured in the UK, our stacking bar stools have been re-modelled to be slightly taller than their 1940/50's predecessors, making them full bar stool height.

We also have another batch of Strand Pattern 123 theatre spotlights just in, first come first served!

Stacking bar stools

We can’t get enough of the old ones so we’ve re-made them. Classic tubular metal stacking bar stools with stained and beeswaxed beech ply seats, the bases powdercoated black. Based on the 1950’s originals commonly used in schools and universities across the UK. We’ve made ours slightly taller than the originals to make them proper bar stool height. Made in Britain.

Stacking Remploy chairs

A large run of 1960’s tubular metal and ply wood stacking chairs, made by Remploy of Stafford. Ingenious angled frames allow the chairs to be interlocked in a row if required. Some characterful distressing to the metalwork and plywood, but structurally sound and sturdy.

Leipzig Helmet lights -Black-

We have a few of these extremely unusual and rare 1950's industrial pendant lights removed from the former Kandem lighting factory in Leipzig, East Germany. Resembling a Roman centurian's helmet, they comprise a re-powdercoated black shade mounted on a polished aluminium gallery with a polished internal reflector.

Communist tube lights

We have a factory load of these fantastic 1960's aluminium and glass fluorescent tube lights from a communist era petro-chemical plant in East Germany. These stylish lights have the effect of floating on the wall. The cylindrical glass tubes house twin fluorescent strips mounted on an internal grey-powdercoated frame and set in polished aluminium end caps. Rubber seals make these air-tight and water-tight. Supplied completely re-wired and ready to go with completely new electrical and fluorescent components and bulbs. Available with a wide range of coloured gels over the strips.
