Herbal Product of the Month
Return to Spring Teapills
(Huan Shao Wan)

September is National Healthy Aging Month and what better formula to share with our community than the one deemed by Acupuncture Today as the 'anti-aging herbal formula.' Return to Spring Teapill (Huan Shao Wan) is one of the best kidney tonic formulas used to restore kidney essence and treat premature aging conditions. The leading raw herbs in this formula include Ziziphus jujuba fruit, Rehmannia glutinosa root-prep and Lycium chinense fruit.
To see if Return to Spring Teapills is the right formula for you, call PIHMA's clinic today at (602) 274-1885 for an herbal consultation. Because everyone is different herbal products are sold only after consultation with an herbal intern.

Payment Policy Change
Patients can occasionally experience acupuncture haze after their treatments. This feeling has been described as a state of relaxation, a mentally peaceful place, or a weightless happiness. We like to think of it as a time when balance and free energy flow has been internally restored. Because we do not want to interrupt this euphoric condition, PIHMA will now request payment before patient treatments. We thank you for understanding this recent policy change and hope you feel the positive effects of acupuncture for as long as possible.

PIHMA Partners with Yunnan University
PIHMA is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with the Yunnan University of Traditional Medicine (YUTCM) in Kunming, China to develop educational opportunities between both institutions, which may include clinical and academic foreign exchange programs for students and faculty. PIHMA is the Valley's only accredited Asian medical college offering 4 year Master's degrees in Acupuncture and in Oriental Medicine. YUTCM has over 500 TCM faculty catering to over 8,000 students, and is located on a campus with 18 acres of buildings and park grounds.

"We are very excited to partner with YUTCM," said President Catherine Niemiec, JD, L.Ac. "YUTCM offers high level education at one of the most beautiful campuses in China." Indeed YUTCM is located in the Yunnan Province, which is famously known as the "Spring City" where temperatures remain around 75 degrees, and which is near the famous Stone Mountains. YUTCM has exchange programs with TCM schools in more than 30 countries including Spain, Germany, France, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Korea. PIHMA is one of the first and few American colleges to partner with YUTCM. More information about this exciting opportunity will be made available later this year from PIHMA's Academic Department.

Dr. Mercola lists ways to maintain joint health in a recently published video. He suggests exercising, maintaining optimal weight, getting enough vitamin D and omega 3 fats, and acupuncture as essential components to optimizing joint health. In addition to acupuncture, mentioned at least four minutes into the video, he also advocates other Asian modalities such as yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Avoiding non-steroidal prescription drugs and irreversible surgery, limiting sugar intake, and taking formulas such as BiovaFlex in conjunction with Dr. Mercola's recommended lifestyle changes can keep your joints moving freely throughout your lifetime. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Relaxation Program
Mindfulness is paying attention moment by moment on purpose and without judgement to our body, mind, emotions, beliefs and attitudes. We are then able to more fully connect with ourselves and the world around us. Making that connection is what reverses the disconnect of being stuck in the stress cycle and allows for:
- Increased physical, mental, emotional health and feeling of well-being.
- Increased relaxed attention skills necessary for entering the Peak Performance experience in all aspects of life.
- Experiencing life more deeply.
