Herbal Tea of the Month
Bojenmi Chinese Tea
Another new year brings another new resolution to lose weight, get fit and be healthy. In addition to diet, exercise and acupuncture, herbal formulas can also be effective in losing weight. Bojenmi Chinese Tea is designed for excess weight and can accelerate fat metabolism. These herbs can remove phlegm and fluids to be eliminated through urine or stool. Other herbs strengthen the spleen qi to make digestion more efficient. Using an herbal formula can help metabolize stored fats thus losing weight. Although, it is important to remember, one cannot expect significant improvement without some lifestyle adjustment.
To see if Bojenmi Tea is right for you, call PIHMA clinic today at 602.274.1885 for an Herbal Consultation. Because everyone is different, raw herbs are only sold after consultation with an herbal intern to create the appropriate formula for you.

Acupuncture for Weight Loss
Now, that the holidays and the stress associated with them are over, are you stressing about any weight you put on? Or maybe you made weight loss your new year's resolution?
Acupuncture can help and is proven to be effective in assisting patients with weight loss.
How does the acupuncture work? According to Dr. Oz (2009), "The rationale for using acupuncture for weight control is based on the premise that weight gain could be the result of disturbed energy flow to and from the regulating center of the brain... that allows the body to run like a finely tuned instrument. It is the body's dispatch that regulates hormones and neurochemicals, and helps to control body temperature, circadian, thirst and hunger." In addition, acupuncture can influence the obesity hormones, specifically ghrelin - a hormone that controls meal initiation; and leptin, the hormone that regulates fat storage and metabolism. Acupuncture treatments can increase ghrelin and decrease leptin resulting in weight loss.
During your initial visit one of our Student Interns will evaluate your eating patterns and determine the real reason you have extra weight. Your 'professional in training' may suggest an auricular treatment (ear acupuncture) or the combination of both ear and body points. Some lifestyle changes, such as a new diet, exercise program, or adjustments to your day-to-day activities may be also discussed. If applicable, our herbalist will talk to you about an herbal supplement for the best and fastest results. You should experience positive results if you are willing to work with the practitioner.
Visit our clinic for your individual assessment and treatment plan. Our professional and compassionate students will design an individual program for you because everyone is different and has a different metabolism, lifestyle, nutrition and exercise habits.
