The Bottom Line of A Class-Action Lawsuit
Dear    ,

Have you ever received this?

"You may be a Class Member and entitled to benefits from the settlement of a Class Action Lawsuit?"

For many people, the thought "I'm going to be a millionaire!" comes to mind. Then reality sets in, and you learn that the lawfirm has received millions while you are left with a voucher for $20.

BACALA believes that class actions can have positive results for consumers, prompting necessary product recalls or stopping discriminatory behavior. Unfortunately, it's often one more big pay day for attorneys.

Texas Monthly's Senior Executive Editor Paul Burka weighs in on a notice he received. Just as his dreams for his long-awaited ranch begin forming, he finds that the attorneys are expecting over $26 million for themselves, leaving him with a voucher for $24.62.

This is another reason why BACALA must continue their mission of educating the public about who really wins in some class-action lawsuits.
