An encouraging message from Pam

Does the Hurt Ever Go Away?
Hello dear single moms!

Hundreds of you attended the Oklahoma Survive 'N' Thrive conference a couple of weeks ago and this is your very first e-devo from me.  Welcome, and wasn't the event radically fabulous! Yes, stupendous! And yet others of you are waiting for the Dallas conference at Prestonwood, July 16-17.  While others of you are too far away to attend either. Gee, wish we could all get together in one place.  But this you must all know: you are all loved and greatly cared for in your plight as a single mother.  God is able to sustain you every step of the way.

Thought I'd share a spiritual tidbit from the Oklahoma conference.  Over and over I felt from the moms the overwhelming sense of worry.  Worry!  It's a deadly termite for any single mother.  Nothing will paralyze your well-being more than a giant-size bite of worry! Amen?

As a single mom, one of my greatest worries was what if my heart never healed? I'd been crushed by betrayal.  And about the time I thought I was on the mend, I'd see my former husband with a woman and my heart would gush agony pains all over again!  All I knew was that I was TIRED OF HURTING! Tired! Tired! Tired!  Know what I mean? Do I have any friends out there?

I once compared the life of a single mom to my visit at the dentist office. It didn't matter in the dental chair whether my hands were gripped or relaxed, the drill of grief just drilled on!  And as a single mom, it didn't matter whether I was awake or asleep, the drill just drilled on.  Until I discovered this; although I was in the dental chair, it was not empty.  God was with me.

What does it mean that God is with you?  It means that His Spirit takes up residence within you, permeating your every part, dispensing injections of comfort from the inside out.  It's a reserve that never runs out.  It's supplied to you every time you ask for relief.  Exercising this supernatural phenomenon will eventually liberate you from your deepest heartache, take the edge off your pain, and set you free.

Free? Yes, free - released to get on with your life and ascend into God's higher plan. I know it's true, little sisters.  It was true for me, and take it to heart: it's true for you, too!

Psalm 147:3 - He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds.

Lovin' you,
Pam
