Pit bull attacks, kills 3-month-old boy
A 3-month-old Burleson boy died Monday after being attacked by a pit bull terrier. Police responded to the 200 block of Linda Drive at 6:48 p.m. on Sept. 24 after tracing a 911 hangup call to that area. Rayden Eugene Bruce's father and mother were involved in a family disturbance. Officers had been on the scene for approximately one hour and were outside taking statements from witnesses when Rayden fell asleep in the arms of a relative. The relative placed the baby on a bed inside the home. A few minutes later, officers heard screaming coming from the house. Family loses home in accidental fire
The cause of the fire that engulfed a family home in the 1300 block of Erin Court is accidental, according to Burleson Fire Marshal Stacy Singleton. When firefighters arrived on scene shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, there was heavy smoke and fire in the garage area and attic above the garage. The family was safely out of the 2,712 square foot wood frame and brick home. Burleson called for assistance from the Crowley and Joshua fire departments. The firefighters initiated an interior attack, but the fire had spread through the entire roof of the home so the firefighters had to go into defensive mode. Read More |
Renfro Street/Brushy Mound median turn lane project faces delays
There have been two delays in the construction of the Renfro Street/Brushy Mound Road median turn lane project that began Aug. 29. A small water leak developed shortly after the old concrete was removed. The City's public works department was notified and the leak was repaired. About the same time the leak began, it was discovered that the electric conduit that runs between the existing street lights was too shallow for subgrade stabilization to be performed without risking damage to the conduit and the electric cables. Oncor was contacted immediately and arrived on site Monday. Relocation activities will begin immediately and should take approximately a week. The original excavation took about a week before the water leak and conduit problem occurred. The total delay time will be about four weeks. Read More |
