City contractor will spray Mountain Valley area for mosquitoes Sept. 7-9
The City will conduct ground-based spraying for mosquitoes starting Friday, September 7, in the southern part of the city. The ground spraying, performed by trucks with foggers, will be conducted in targeted subdivisions within a one-half mile buffer surrounding the 2800 block of Lakeside Drive. The City detected a mosquito pool that tested positive for West Nile Virus on Lakeside. This area includes 11 miles of streets and approximately 990 addresses. The spraying will take place in that area on three consecutive days, Sept. 7-9. Spraying will begin at 9 p.m., weather permitting, and end by 5 a.m. In the event of rain or if wind speeds are above 10 miles per hour, the spraying will be rescheduled. This method of spraying targets flying mosquitoes that come in contact with the pesticide in the spray or fog. For more information call 817-426-9832. To see the map of the area that will be sprayed, go to the West Nile Virus page on the City website. |
