Ground-based spraying should end tonight; City is giving away free mosquito dunks
The last night of targeted ground-based spraying for mosquitoes is scheduled for tonight, Aug. 31, unless there was a weather delay Thursday. For all updated information go to the City website and City Facebook page. If you are not in the area that is sprayed but you are concerned about mosquitoes, the City of Burleson is giving away mosquito larvicide or "dunks" to Burleson residents. Dunks are small tablets comprised of an environmentally-safe larvicide that specifically targets and eliminates mosquito larvae when placed in standing water for 30 - 45 days. The City will give away two free dunks per household to residents who stop by the Municipal Service Center, 725 S.E. John Jones Dr. Residents must show proof of residency such as a utility bill or driver's license. The Municipal Service Center is open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The City has a limited supply and the program is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Mosquito dunks are also available at most local home, garden, and hardware stores. For more information, please call Neighborhood Services at 817-426-9832. |

Be cautious in school zones; stay off phone; and always stop for the bus
Pay attention to those flashing lights in school zones in Burleson - students are back in school this week. The City is responsible for two school zones (three schools) in the Joshua School District and 13 in the Burleson School District. Remember, if you don't have a hands-free device you can't use your cell phone while driving through an active school zone in Burleson. And, drivers, regardless of which direction you are approaching the school bus, you must stop if that bus has stopped to let students get on or get off the bus. Read More |
