Charlie Robison brings country rock to Hot Sounds of Summer Bandera native Charlie Robison is bringing his own brand of country to Burleson's Old Town tonight, June 8, for the second week of the City's five-week Hot Sounds of Summer Concert Series. Robison has half a dozen CDs to his credit, including the most recent "Beautiful Day." Robison is described as having a "dynamic and hard-charging performing style which makes him a Lone Star favorite and a popular national country-rock attraction." The Friday night concert on the City stage at the corner of Ellison and Wilson streets (124 W. Ellison St.) is a free celebration. All you have to bring is your blanket or chair and some sunscreen for the 7:30 p.m. start. Event coordinators advise concert-goers to leave the glass bottles at home. Arrive early and eat at Old Town restaurants and stroll through the shops. Or, bring your own picnic and refreshments but drink responsibly. Disorderly conduct or public intoxication will not be tolerated at the Hot Sounds concerts. Read More |

United Cooperative Services earns Award for Excellence in Community Improvement

That effort garnered UCS the Jerry Allen Award for Excellence in Community Improvement Award from the City of Burleson. The award was presented at the June 4 Burleson City Council meeting. The award was named for Jerry Allen, who in May 2007 retired from city council. He was re-elected in 2011 and is currently a sitting councilmember. Read More |
