Construction of UPRR/Ellison Street sidewalk project starts next week

Construction of the Union Pacific Railroad/Ellison Street sidewalk project will begin on or about Monday, March 26. The project consists of the construction of a 4-foot to 8-foot wide sidewalk on the south side of Ellison Street, across the railroad tracks between the Main Street parking lot and Commerce Street. The intent of the project is to provide a safe and smooth pedestrian crossing linking Old Town areas on either side of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The concrete sidewalk will be bordered in most areas with colored stamped concrete (similar to the medians on Hidden Creek Parkway). Decorative bollards will be installed along Ellison Street to provide a barrier between traffic and pedestrians. Construction is expected to take 60 calendar days. The project is funded via revenues collected from violations under the red light photo enforcement program.  The construction cost is $38,252.50. If you have any questions, contact Lance Barton, project engineer, Engineering Services for the City, at 817-426-9621.
