City manager finalists narrow to two
City Council members narrowed the list of candidates for city manager to two. Cheatham has worked for six cities, including Dekalb., Ill., Dallas, Greenville, Watauga, The Colony, and Brownsburg, Ind. He earned his bachelor of science degree in business management from Bradley University and a master of arts in public administration from Northern Illinois University. Grindstaff has worked for four cities, including Hillsboro, Bryan, Abilene and San Angelo. Five finalists were interviewed Jan. 24-25 by council. Cheatham and Grindstaff return Feb. 1 for a closed meeting with a panel from the community and a panel from City staff. Northern Texas Traction Company Parlor Car #411 arrives in Burleson
Northern Texas Traction Company Parlor Car #411 was pulled into town Thursday morning, Jan. 19, 2012, aboard a trailer. The car was part of the interurban service between Fort Worth and Dallas that began in 1912. The car also ran on the Fort Worth to Cleburne line occasionally. After the demise of the interurban lines in 1935, the parlor car was purchased for use on a farm near Eagle Mountain Lake. Most recently it was sitting on a lot at the T in Fort Worth. Volunteers with the Burleson Heritage Foundation will be refurbishing the outside of the parlor car, and then the car will be moved adjacent to Rail Car #330 in front of Burleson City Hall. Go to the City Facebook page for more pictures. |
