High-tech digital bookmobile adds Burleson stop to the national tour
A high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile is making Burleson one of three north Texas stops on the national tour. Overdrive's Digital Bookmobile, which is inside a 74-foot 18-wheel tractor-trailer, will be at the Burleson Public Library on Wednesday, Nov. 2, noon-6 p.m. There is no charge to participate. The library is located at 248 S.W. Johnson Ave. The Digital Bookmobile assists public libraries in promoting downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, music and video. The vehicle is equipped with broadband Internet-connected computers, high-definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players. Interactive computer stations give visitors a chance to search the digital media collection and 'Virtual Branch' download website, use supported mobile devices, and sample eBooks and audiobooks from the library. Residents still have to get a permit, which they do at city hall, but in the future, they will have the option of completing the paperwork online through the City website. Garage sale signs can not be bigger than 15-inches by 22-inches. The restriction on the number of garage sales and duration is still in place. Read More |
