Police add commercial vehicle enforcement to traffic safety programs
The Burleson Police Department is adding another safety program to its arsenal of services starting next month. Burleson will launch the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement program on Oct. 3. This is a safety initiative designed to reduce serious crashes involving commercial motor vehicles. The officer is authorized to stop a commercial vehicle for random roadside inspections, place dangerous commercial vehicles or drivers out of service, and issue citations for violations of regulations. Burleson has five federally-funded roads running through the city limits. Those include I-35W, Hwy. 174 (Wilshire Boulevard), FM 731 (John Jones Drive), FM 3391 (East Renfro Street) and FM 1902. Animal Shelter offers microchipping of pets to all pet owners as of Oct. 1
The Burleson Animal Shelter will start offering microchipping to everyone with a pet starting Oct. 1. The cost is $15. The pet's owner must provide proof of rabies vaccination to get the microchip. Animal microchips are about the size of a grain of rice and typically are implanted just beneath the surface of the skin, between the shoulder blades. Each chip has a unique identification number that links a pet to the owner's personal information so if a dog or cat is lost, chances of being reunited with the owner are good. Read More |
