National Night OutGet to know your neighbors during the Aug. 2 National Night Out celebration

Have you signed your neighborhood up for the Aug. 2 National Night Out? Organize your neighbors for a block party or neighborhood cookout, then let the police department know about your plans! The citywide celebration is slated for 6 p.m.-10 p.m. The Burleson Police Department's two community resource officers, the chief and a commander as well as the fire marshal's office will visit as many neighborhoods as they can. Representatives from Target, the national sponsor for the National Night Out Program, as well as members of the Mayor's Youth Council will also be in attendance. Target is providing silly bands and sidewalk chalk and the police department will hand out stickers, police trading cards and magnets. H-E-B will also visit at least two apartment complexes with the store's mascot, Buddy. To get involved, email Community Resource Officer Mike Owen or call 817-426-9959 or 817-739-5183. Read More

Cycle and soak your lawn twice a week

The Lawn WhispererThe Lawn Whisperer is the focus of a campaign by the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) as well as Save Dallas Water to encourage people to conserve water. Since 2009 Burleson has not allowed watering, via sprinkler systems, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. It is a year-round ban that includes residential and non-residential customers. Burleson's water comes from the City of Fort Worth, which is part of the TRWD. The TRWD gets water from four reservoirs - Lake Bridgeport, Eagle Mountain Lake, Cedar Creek, and Richland-Chambers reservoirs - as well as Lake Benbrook. Fort Worth also draws water from Lake Worth. Learn about possible future water restrictions, how to cycle and soak and more through The Lawn Whisperer videos on YouTube. Click on the Meetings and Video icon on the homepage of the City website .
