The Burleson Police Department will participate in the 28th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Participating is as simple as turning your porch light on, hosting a block party or neighborhood cookout, and inviting local police officers and firefighters to stop by for a brief visit with the children. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support and participation in anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and to let criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. To get involved, email Community Resource Officer Mike Owen or call 817-426-9959 or 817-739-5183.

Bicyclists, remember rules of the road
Bicyclists, remember to follow all state laws, wear a helmet, always be observant of the other vehicles on the road (it is easier for you to stop than a 3,000-pound vehicle to stop), and use crosswalks. One of the more dangerous times on the road is when you mix bicycle traffic with automobile traffic. And motorists, it's your duty to be observant of bicyclists and share the road. There are five main sections of the Transportation Code that pertain to bicycles. Read More
