Fourth of July fireworks at ChisenhallFourth of July fireworks 2011 Fields earn the wow factor Monday

The City's free Voodoo Blue concert and the fireworks choreographed to patriotic music were crowd pleasers on Independence Day. The event was moved from Hidden Creek Parkway to Chisenhall Fields this year. For pictures of the fireworks show and the concert, go to the Fourth of July 2011 Voodoo Blue concert and fireworks photo album on the City's Facebook page.

Don't leave pets inside hot vehicles

Are the recent triple digit temperatures tough on you? Imagine what they are like for a family pet that is left inside a hot car. The City of Burleson ordinance says a person commits an offense if any animal is left in a standing or parked vehicle in a way that endangers the animal's health, safety, or welfare. The animal control officer, or police officer, has the authority to use force to remove an animal from a vehicle, then the animal will be impounded. If you see an animal locked in a hot car, looking like it is in distress, call animal services (817-426-9283) or the police (817-426-9903) immediately. Read More

The Burleson Lions Club 2011 Fourth of July parade drew more than 170 entries and filled the streets for more than an hour Monday morning. There was plenty of red, white and blue as well as fire trucks, military vehicles, children, dogs, horses and yes, even what looked like two camels. And don't forget Captain America!
