Stevie Ray Vaughan fans, don't miss Voodoo Blue in the City's free Fourth of July concert! Strains of Stevie Ray Vaughan music will fill the air at Chisenhall Fields as the City hosts the annual Independence Day celebration on Monday, July 4. The 90-minute concert starts at 7:30 p.m., and will be followed by the fireworks show, which is choreographed to music. Voodoo Blue formed in 2002 with one purpose in mind - to pay homage to one of the most widely recognized guitar masters - Stevie Ray Vaughan. The concert, fireworks, and parking are free. Chisenhall Fields (formerly Chisenhall Park) is located at 500 W. Hidden Creek Parkway. |
If you celebrate the holiday with bubbly, don't drink and drive
If you plan to celebrate the nation's independence with some bubbly, remember that the Burleson Police Department has a "No Refusal" policy when it comes to suspected drunk drivers. The Texas Department of Transportation's July 4th No Refusal Weekend is July 1-5. Burleson will have a heightened awareness during this time, but stresses that the no refusal policy is enforced year round. In May 2008, Burleson joined the movement to obtain a warrant to draw a suspected drunk driver's blood if that driver refuses to submit to an intoxilyzer test. A DWI arrest can result in a Class B, Class A, state jail felony, or third degree felony and a sentence ranging from 180 days in county jail to two-10 years in prison. Read More |
