Don't miss the City's free Bunny Daze extravaganza April 16!
Grab your children, camera and Easter baskets and join the City in the annual Bunny Daze extravaganza at the BRiCk at Bartlett Park. This is a free event sponsored by the City. The fun takes place between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at 550 N.W. Summercrest Blvd. There will be on-stage performances, carnival games, face painting and more. Peter Cottontail is the special guest! The Easter Egg Hunt starts at 1:30 p.m. The children, up to age 12, will be divided into age groups before the egg hunt begins. Kick off the free Hot Sounds of Summer concert series May 27 in Old Town
All you need is a lawn chair or blanket, and maybe some sunscreen, and you are set for the City's Friday night Hot Sounds of Summer concert series in Burleson's Old Town. The free five-concert series kicks off May 27 (Memorial Day weekend) with Eleven Hundred Springs. Bands include Incognito, Josh Weathers & the True Endeavors, the Spazmatics, and Shoot Low Sheriff. The 90-minute concerts start at 7:30 p.m. on the City stage at the corner of Ellison and Wilson streets. Read more. |
Firefighter Rob Moore earns Chief's Award
The career switch from law enforcement to firefighter has been good for Rob Moore, who earned the Chief's Award from Fire Chief Gary Wisdom on March 22 at the 2010 Burleson Fire Department Firefighters Awards Banquet. Moore, 35, is a firefighter/emergency medical technician. He is also certified as a swift water technician and is a member of the Burleson Professional Firefighters Association Local 4025. Moore earned the accolades because he stepped up in the summer of 2010 and volunteered to create the fire department's pages for the City's new website, which was launched in September 2010. Dive for eggs at April 16 Aqua Egg Hunt
The BRiCk is offering a twist on the traditional Easter Egg Hunt with the Aqua Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 16. The fun starts at noon in the indoor pool at 550 N.W. Summercrest Blvd. Children up to 11 years of age need to don swimsuits and goggles to search for plastic eggs in the pool. Children will be divided into four age groups for hunts in the play structure area and the lap pool. Children can redeem eggs for prizes. Admission is $2 per child. Choosing to stay and swim after the egg hunt requires the purchase of a day pass. For more information, call Aquatic Supervisor Melissa Kerns at 817-426-9106. |
Police host May 17 Open House in honor of National Police Week
Are you curious about what the Burleson Police Department has to offer? In recognition of National Police Week, the department is hosting its annual open house on Tuesday, May 17, at 225 W. Renfro St. The open house, 3 p.m.-6 p.m., will feature displays by the SWAT team, hostage negotiators, Citizens Police Academy, Citizens On Patrol, traffic unit, Burleson Police Officers Association, school resource officers, community services and telecommunicators.

Stay ahead of bad weather with City's emergency phone notifications
Make sure you are signed up with the City's Blackboard Connect-CTY emergency notification service to receive alerts for tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings, chemical emergencies, a state emergency declared by the governor, a national emergency declared by the president, or other emergencies as directed by the mayor, city management, or director of emergency management. These alerts are pre-recorded telephone messages made to the publicly-listed phone numbers of residences and businesses in the city. You may also go online and add cell phone numbers to receive the pre-recorded voice message via a cell phone. This service is free to the public. Stay on top of the weather by turning on your local news and by using a weather radio. For more go to the Emergency Management page on the City of Burleson website. |
Volunteer to keep Burleson beautiful!
Keep Burleson Beautiful and the City are encouraging you to get involved in Burleson's Great American Cleanup Don't Mess With Texas Trash-Off. Volunteer to join the cleanup event on Saturday, April 30, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Volunteers will remove litter and debris from retail corridors and residential drainage channels. Participants will be treated to a free lunch and prize giveaways at Warren Park, on Johnson Avenue, following the cleanup. Longtime volunteer firefighters are honored with ceremonial axes
Stacy Singleton has worn at least two different hats since June 1991. One hat was as a volunteer fire captain for the Burleson Fire Department. The other hat stood for his job as the City's fire marshal. Read More. Steve Haas has worn multiple hats as well, as a volunteer firefighter, telecommunications operator, and now an alarm coordinator and Emergency Operations Center logistics officer for the City. Read More. Fire Chief Gary Wisdom presented Singleton and Haas, as well as Dave Tomlinson, with ceremonial axes for their 26, 12, and nine years as volunteers with the fire department. Volunteer firefighter service plaques were awarded to Korrey Alexander for five years and to Bill Warner and Brandon Sellers for four years. The volunteer program was phased out in October 2010. |
Trash/recycling will be collected, and you can play golf on Good Friday
Trash and curbside recycling will be collected on Friday, April 22, but City facilities will be closed in observance of Good Friday. Hidden Creek Golf Course and the pro shop will be open all weekend. The BRiCk will be closed on Good Friday, open for regular hours Saturday, and closed Easter Sunday. The animal shelter will be open on Saturday. The library will be closed Friday-Sunday. Read More |

Click on the meeting date, then click on the item you are interested in. There is a tab for streaming video of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Official minutes of council and commission meetings are not posted on the City website until the council/commission members have approved those minutes at their next scheduled meeting. |
