Police, firefighters, wage kickball battle to help Heart For The Kids
This year, Burleson firefighters and police officers will face off in a game of kickball on Saturday, Dec. 11, at noon at the softball field at Burleson High School. Admission is one unwrapped toy for Heart For the Kids. The game is hosted by the Burleson Professional Fire Fighters Association Local #4025 and Burleson Police Officers Association. The wish list from Heart For The Kids includes bicycles, scooters and toys for children, newborn to 17. Heart For The Kids will distribute the donated items to families the week of Dec. 13. |
Today is deadline for angel donations
The Burleson Public Library and the BRiCk have extended the deadline for angel donations to today, Dec. 10. The library is hosting a Holiday Friends Angel Tree. The BRiCk is hosting an Angel Tree for the Johnson County Foster Parent Association. Read more. |

Sign pre-teens up for seven-day Winter Fun Camp at the BRiCk
Are you looking for something to keep your pre-teens busy over the Christmas break? Then sign them up now for the Winter Fun Camp at the Burleson Recreation Center (the BRiCk)! The camp is seven days, Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-30, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. The fun is geared toward ages 6-12. Campers will participate in group games, arts and crafts, swimming, rock climbing, team building events and more. The cost is $115 for individual BRiCk members and $100 for each additional family member or $130 for individual non-members and $115 for each additional family member. 'Despicable Me' is the free family movie fare Dec. 21 at the library
Bring the whole family to the Burleson Public Library on Tuesday, Dec. 21, for a free viewing of the family movie, "Despicable Me." The opening credits will roll at 2 p.m. Refreshments are provided. In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the... The movie is about The animated feature focuses on a vast secret hideout hidden beneath a dead lawn. The villain, Gru, and his minions are planning to steal the moon. But Gru meets his greatest challenge when three little orphaned girls look at him as a potential Dad. Call the library at 817-426-9210. The library is located at 248 S.W. Johnson Ave.

Trash collection/curbside recycling does not stop for Christmas holidays
The City's contractor will collect your household trash and curbside recycling over the Christmas and New Year's holiday. City facilities will be closed Thursday-Friday, Dec. 23-24, and Friday, Dec. 31. The BRiCk will be open 1 p.m.-6 p.m. on Dec. 23; closed Dec. 24-25; open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 31; and closed on Jan. 1. The Compost/Recycling Center will be open Dec. 31-Jan. 1 so residents can recycle their Christmas trees. The library will be closed Dec. 22-Dec. 26 and Dec. 31-Jan. 2. Hidden Creek Golf Course will close at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day, but the course will open for regular hours on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. And, the Burleson Animal Shelter will be closed Dec. 23-27 and Dec. 31-Jan. 3. Read more |
