Patrol cars, motorcycles, and big, big trucks . . . City employees share them all with children at Burleson Public Library
Children who attended the Burleson Public Library's free July 1 program featuring the Burleson Police Department had fun hitting the siren buttons, sounding the horns, seeing their friends on in-car video, sitting on a police motorcycle and in a patrol car, and even trying on a bulletproof vest and helmet. On July 15, it's the City's Public Works department's turn, and they are bringing in the big trucks to show the children, 12 years old and younger. The free July 15 program starts at 11 a.m. For more, call the library (248 S.W. Johnson Ave.) at 817-426-9210.

Engraving pen, camera and notebook are good crime prevention investments
Protecting valuables from theft is as easy and inexpensive as investing in an electric engraving pen, a camera and a notebook. Inscribe your name or a number (not your entire driver's license number, Social Security number or date of birth) on your most valuable items, take pictures of each item, and record the information. If your property is stolen, the Burleson Police Department subscribes to a service called LeadsOnline. LeadsOnline is an internet-based pawn program in which pawn shops nationwide upload their transactions. Burleson Police enter the property information from the theft report into LeadsOnline. If property is identified as stolen it is seized and a property hearing is scheduled in Burleson Municipal Court. For more, go to http://tinyurl.com/34maabg. |
