Indoor pool is for exercise, and fun! Did you know that the new Burleson Recreation Center, called the BRiCk, will open next month? One of the more interesting features is the indoor pool area. It's not only designed for exercise with the inclusion of a 5-lap lane pool, but also for fun. The play pool comes equipped with giant dripping flower petals that spin and floor jets that soak everything, and everyone, around them. There's also a bubble bench, vortex pool, a "lazy river" current pool and a 15-foot tube slide. Mark your calendars and make plans to visit the BRiCk, 550 N.W. Summercrest Blvd. For more, call 817-426-9114. For more on membership rates, go to http://tinyurl.com/yzkh5us. |

Second skunk tests positive for rabies The test on a skunk found in the 100 block of Ranchway Drive came back positive for rabies. The skunk was chasing a four-month-old Labrador puppy in the owner's backyard on April 1. The owner killed the skunk. It did not appear that the puppy had been bitten. The City's animal control division did advise the dog's owner to vaccinate the puppy immediately, then follow up with rabies vaccinations in three weeks and again in eight weeks. The puppy is being isolated for 90 days. Due to the distance between the two locations, the Ranchway incident is not connected to the March incident in which a skunk tested positive for rabies on Bluebonnet Court in north Burleson.
