Hot Sounds are coming to Old Town Spazmatics, Hot Sounds concert
The free Hot Sounds of Summer concert series in Old Town will start Friday, May 28, with The Spazmatics, a rockin' 1980's band. The five-week series which showcases 90 minutes of live music starting at 7:30 p.m. every Friday,  also includes Victor Trevino Jr., Landon Dodd and the Dance Hall Drifters, Voodoo Blue, and Eight Arms To Hold You. Jim Wadlow, H1N1 vaccinationMore than 280 receive free H1N1 vaccinations
The snowy weather didn't keep residents from getting their free H1N1 vaccinations Tuesday evening. A total of 281 received either nasal or injection vaccinations Feb. 23 at an event coordinated by the City's emergency management division, Burleson Independent School District and Tarrant County Public Health. The most interested group included those between five and 18 years old, who made up 106 of the recipients. The rest of the breakdown includes 82 recipients between 25 and 49 years old; 50 recipients between 50 and 64 years old; 20 over the age of 65; 11 recipients between 24 and 59 months old; 10 between 19 and 24 years old; and two between six and 23 months old. Sam Houston book coverTexas history is focus of March Mayor's Book Club
The Burleson Public Library will host author James L. Haley on Thursday, March 25, at 7 p.m., at Hill College as part of the Mayor's Book Club focus on Texas history. The featured book is Haley's Sam Houston. Houston was governor of two states - Tennessee and Texas - president of the Republic of Texas, a United States senator and a military hero. Outdoor warning sirenCity will test outdoor sirens March 3
The City's emergency management department will be testing the Outdoor Warning System sirens on Wednesday, March 3, at 1 p.m. The audible message indicates that it is only a test. Sirens will not be tested if threatening weather is on the horizon. The City tests the sirens the first Wednesday of the month.
Four council races remain uncontested

As of noon on Thursday, the number of people who have filed for seats on the Burleson City Council remained steady at four. Seats on the May 8 ballot include Places 2, 4, and 6 as well as Electionmayor. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. on March 8. Candidates must be at least 18 years old; a citizen of the United States; a qualified voter of the city of Burleson; a resident of the city, and have resided in the city for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the election; not delinquent in the payment of taxes or other liability due to the City of Burleson; and, not otherwise disqualified from serving on the city council by any other provision of law.  To see the paperwork filed by all candidates, go to http://tinyurl.com/yk4babw. Easter Egg Hunt hops to Hidden Creek Two survey Easter  basketSports Complex
Don't miss the mad dash for Easter eggs this year at the City's Easter Egg Hunt. The fun takes place Saturday, March 27, at 1 p.m. at Hidden Creek Sports Complex, 295 E. Hidden Creek Parkway. The staff of the City's parks and recreation department will be hiding Easter eggs that will be plucked up by children ranging in age from birth to 12 years old. Previously, the Easter Egg Hunt has been the finale to Bunny Daze, which took place at Chisenhall Park. Chisenhall Park is being transformed into Chisenhall Fields, a softball/baseball megaplex. dumpster junkReport code violations to City
High grass/weeds, overflowing dumpsters, junk vehicles, unclean premises, illegal signs and unpermitted garage sales are all against City codes. If you see a violation, call 817-426-9872 or 817-426-9875. You need the address of the violation. Code violation complaints may also be sent to code@burlesontx.com.

SAVE THE DATE! The Burleson Fire Department will host its free Junior Fire Academy for fourth graders June 7-June 10. Check back for more details!

When the clock springs forward for daylight-saving time, the graves at Burleson Memorial Park will get spruced up. Anything that is not permanently attached to the memorial or marker will be removed on Sunday, March 14, when the time springs forward one hour at 2 a.m. That includes fresh or artificial flowers and other items that are hanging, sitting or lying on the grave sites. Don't add anything to the gravesites during the week of March 14 since the clean-up will continue through March 21. Go to http://tinyurl.com/ylzk6qt for more.
