Don't forget to renew your permit for home and business alarms
If you have an alarm system in your home or business that is designed to summon the police in case of an emergency, you have to have an alarm system permit. Alarm system permits are $50 annually for residences and $100 annually for businesses. Alarm system permits expire on Dec. 31 and must be renewed by completing an alarm system permit application and returning it, along with the fee, to the building permits office at Burleson City Hall. If the permit is not renewed by Jan. 31, 2010, the homeowner or business owner will be fined $10. Obtaining an application is easy. You can do it online by going to http://tinyurl.com/ydlt92n on the City web site. Alarm system permits may be requested by phone by calling the police department's alarm office, 817-426-9907, or the application may be picked up at Burleson City Hall. Hours at the police department and city hall are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Alarm systems must be registered, even if they are not monitored by an alarm. Go to http://tinyurl.com/ygxndhs. |
Burleson's needy children will reap rewards from Dec. 12 gridiron showdown

The flag football game benefits Heart for the Kids and is hosted by the Burleson Professional Fire Fighters Association Local #4025 and Burleson Police Officers Association. Don't offer incentive deal to burglars/thieves
The CD players, car stereos, GPS navigation systems, purses, wallets, cellular telephones, loose change and tools . . . what do they have in common? They are consistently among the top items stolen from vehicles in Burleson. Other prime targets include IPODs, CDs, radar detectors, briefcases/work bags, computers, jewelry, guns and garage door openers. Thieves don't even have to work to get what they want. Vehicles are left unlocked in both business and residential areas. The same can be said for your house. Walk down any neighborhood street and count the number of homes with open garage doors where either no one is in sight, or, worse yet, no vehicles are in sight. That's a bull's eye for thieves and burglars. How do you make a difference? How do you prevent crime? Go to http://tinyurl.com/yfrbqjv. |
