Give a boost to graduating high school seniors with a night at the movies Give a boost to graduating high school seniors. All it will cost you is a night out at the movies. Support the rising stars of Burleson on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Premiere Cinemas. A portion of your regular ticket price, and concessions, for movies beginning after 5 p.m. will be donated to the Burleson Opportunity Fund. If you want to make it a night to remember, purchase a VIP ticket for just $35 and you will be treated to the red carpet experience . . . dinner, entertainment, photo opportunities, movie star gift bags and tickets to the movie of your choice. Burleson's free Boo Bash fun is Saturday, Oct. 31
Free games, free candy, a pumpkin patch, free bounce houses, free entertainment, a costume parade and a Halloween story are all on tap for the City of Burleson's second annual Burleson Old Town Boo Bash. The event - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 - is hosted by the City and the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce as well as supported by area churches, businesses and civic clubs. Target is back as the major sponsor. Children from birth to 12 years old can dress up and enjoy free trick-or-treating.  Decorated Vietnam veteran is speaker at Nov. 7 Military Veteran Tribute
A decorated Vietnam veteran will be the guest speaker at the Saturday, Nov. 7, Military Veteran Tribute at Burleson's Renfro Square. The event begins at 2 p.m. at the corner of Renfro Street and I-35W in Burleson's Old Town. Sgt. Vincent Rios served two tours in Vietnam. On his second tour, in 1969, Sgt. Rios was injured by an enemy explosive device and was medically retired. His military decorations include two Bronze Star medals with Combat "V" Device for valor, three Purple Heart medals, two Presidential Unit citations, two Navy Unit commendations with "V" Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm (two awards), the National Defense Service medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. Saturday, Nov. 7, marks the third year that the City of Burleson, the developers of Renfro Square, and community volunteers have banded together to pay tribute to local military veterans. Be counted, be represented in 2010
The City of Burleson wants to make sure you are counted in the 2010 Census. Why should you fill out and return the Census form that you will receive next spring? Census data determines how many seats each state will have in the United States House of Representatives, and, the data determines the redistricting of state legislatures, county and city councils and voting districts. The data affects federal funding to communities. The Census is used as the basis for decisions about healthcare, community development, housing, education, transportation, social services, employment and more. Police, firefighters face off on gridiron Dec. 12 Reserve Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. for the annual Blue Vs. Red charity football game between the Burleson Police Department and the Burleson Fire Department. The game will be played at the stadium at Kerr Middle School on Johnson Avenue. Get fit . . . put a little Zumba in your life
Have you ever tried to Zumba? Check it out Thursdays, 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at the Burleson Community Center. The cost is $7 per class or $20 a month. Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International dance themes and features aerobic/fitness interval training. 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians' Monday at Burleson Public Library
Martian children are obsessed with TV shows from Earth that extol the virtues of Santa Claus? That's the premise of "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians," the Burleson Public Library's Oct. 26 offering in the month-long "Horribly Horrible Horror Monday" movie series. The Martians come to Earth, kidnap Santa and two children, and head back to the North Pole, then to Mars. The Monday night movies start at 7 p.m. at 248 SW Johnson Ave., and, the movies are free! | |

So how much rain have we had? According to the City of Burleson's statistics, Burleson has weathered 23.63 inches of rain since Aug. 28. In September alone, we sloshed through 14.06 inches of the wet stuff. As of Oct. 22, the rainfall totals for this month come to 8.45 inches. |

The Burleson Public Library is hosting a Halloween Costume Party Wednesday, Oct. 28, for children 12 years of age and younger. The free fun takes place between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at 248 S.W.
