Check the number before you dial
If you are trying to call a City of Burleson department, stop before you hit that keypad. If you need public works (equipment services, gas well drilling, trash collection and curbside recycling, street maintenance, environmental services, code enforcement or water/wastewater utilities), call the Municipal Service Center (1675 John Jones Dr.) at 817-426-9830. If you want to talk to city council or city management, pay your water bill, ask about upcoming elections or file an open records request, inquire about a job with the City, get a garage sale permit or building permit, talk about business or land development, or talk about the Burleson Progress Report/Facebook/E-Newsletter, call Burleson City Hall (141 W. Northbound I-35W will be reduced to one lane, by TXDoT, this weekend
The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDoT) is reducing the northbound lanes of I-35W to one from FM 1187 to McAlister Road between 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, and 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17. The Alsbury entrance ramp to northbound I-35W and, at various times, the northbound exit ramp to FM 1187 will also be closed. Alternate routes are encouraged. These closure times are all dependent on the weather.

Tree preservation is up for final reading
Burleson City Council members will review the final reading of the proposed tree preservation ordinance at the Monday, Aug. 17, meeting at Burleson City Hall. Copies of that draft ordinance are available via http://tinyurl.com/lag7ep, or, stop by Burleson City Hall, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday for a copy. Skateboarders have a place to go, thanks to church/City partnership
Did you know that Burleson has a community skateboard park? The park at 380 N.W. Tarrant St. is a partnership between Saint Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the City of Burleson. It is open 7 days a week. The church provides adult supervision for the park. Skaters have to show a church-issued I.D. card and wear protective gear. Skaters under the age of 18 will need their parents' approval to be issued a park I.D. For more, go to http://tinyurl.com/nx9ne8. |
Storm notification to be discussed
The City of Burleson's Connect-CTY emergency phone notification system will be discussed at the Aug. 17 Burleson City Council meeting at city hall. Response to request for food for pets of Meals-on-Wheels clients is astounding
The response to the request for donations of pet food for Animeals has been astounding. Animeals is a joint  project of Meals-on-Wheels and the Burleson Animal Shelter. Meals-on-Wheels clients receive pet food for their pets. More than 350 bags of food were donated in just the first five days. To donate money, mail it to Johnson County Meals-on-Wheels, 106 E. Kilpatrick, Cleburne, TX 76031, Attn: Animeals. Donated pet food can be dropped off at the Burleson Animal Shelter, 1695 John Jones Dr. (FM 731 South) between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays. | |
