There's no place like home for free Fourth of July concert, fireworks
When the Fourth of July rolls around, you know the fun is at Burleson's Hidden Creek Sports Complex. Attend the 11th annual Fourth of July Independence Day celebration at 7:30 p.m. Everything is free with the exception of concessions. Gates open at 5 p.m. "Men in Black" takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. to perform a tribute to Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. A 20-minute fireworks extravaganza choreographed to patriotic music will follow. Library hosts award-winning magician for two free shows
Award-winning entertainer Brett Roberts will present his new magic show for 2009, "Texas Magic Tricks and Tomfoolery. Yee Haw!" on Thursday, June 11, at the Burleson Public Library. The two free shows will be at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Victor Trevino and Hound Dogs bring rockabilly to Old Town
Don't miss Victor Trevino and the Hound Dogs as they headline the third of five free Hot Sounds of Summer concerts in Burleson's Old Town on Friday, June 12. Road improvements offer more turning power at Hwy. 174/FM 731
A busy Burleson intersection is about to be improved with the addition of dual turn lanes in all four directions, thanks to a project by the Texas Department of Transportation. Work at the intersection of Hwy. 174 and FM 731 will begin June 8. The improvements will be done on weekdays, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Completion of the project is expected by the fall of 2009.
