StorytimeFree Summer Reading Club kicks off June 5  
The Burleson Public Library's Summer Reading Club kicks off on Friday, June 5. Signup starts at 10 a.m. Children 2-11 years old may join the fun. Crud Cruiser Household hazardous waste collection event is May 30  
Dispose of your household hazardous waste the right way by being part of the Saturday, May 30, Household Hazardous Waste Collection event, 9 a.m.-11 a.m., at the City's old service center at 133 N. Main St. This is a free collection. Participants must bring their City of Burleson water or solid waste bill as proof of residency. Go to http://tinyurl.com/mxn87o.
Outdoor warning sirenOutdoor warning sirens are tested on the first Wednesday 
If you hear a weather siren sounding at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month, don't panic. It's only a test. The City's emergency management department tests the Outdoor Warning System (OWS) sirens if there is no threatening weather on the horizon. The audible test will indicate that it is only a test. Crawfish Hot Sounds of SummerCrawfish brings the classics to Old Town June 5
Don't miss Crawfish as they headline the second free Hot Sounds of Summer concert in Burleson's Old Town on Friday, June 5.
Crawfish covers all of the classic hits, including pop rock, Motown, classic rock, country, easy listening, Cajun and patriotic tunes.
 
The 90-minute concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Ellison and Wilson streets, next to Burleson City Hall. For more, go to http://tinyurl.com/kpkqj6.

Private vendor takes over trash June 1
Beginning June 1, solid waste collection, including specials, brush and yard waste in Burleson will transfer from the City of Burleson's hands to a private vendor, I.E.S.I. TX Corporation.
 
There will still be twice-a-week solid waste collection for residential customers.  There will not be any changes to the days or zones collected currently.  The total cost is $16.42 each month. This is a 23 percent reduction when compared to the projected 2010 City rate of $21.38. For more, go to
