Burleson Opportunity Fund logoDeadline for Paw Pals Animal Care Academy is May 26 

Fifth grade students could earn the chance of a lifetime to work with shelter animals in the City of Burleson's second annual Paw Pals Animal Care Academy.
 
This is a six-week course (two hours every Saturday) hosted by the City's animal services division. The free course is limited to 15 fifth graders. The academy will take place June 13-July 25. There will be no class on July 4th. The deadline to apply is May 26. For more information about Paw Pals go to

 City hosts Youth Summit May 20
The City is hosting a Youth Summit on Wednesday, May 20, 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at the Burleson High School cafeteria. The whole family is welcome. Attendees are encouraged to take a quick survey about what they want to see in the city. This is a come-and-go event with activities, and free food, for parents and children, 6-24 years old. Burleson Opportunity Fund logoCrud Cruiser wants your household hazardous waste  
Dispose of your household hazardous waste the right way by being part of the Saturday, May 30, Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.
                                        
The HHW collection will take place between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the City's old service center at Renfro and Main Street. The household chemicals will be collected by the City of Fort Worth's Crud Cruiser. Items will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the Crud Cruiser is full. This is a free collection. No fee for household hazardous waste disposal will be collected. Only material from Burleson residents will be accepted. For more information, go to

The Burleson Fire Department is hosting a Junior Fire Academy June 15-18. The academy, which is free of charge, is for those students who are currently fourth graders. There are 10 openings. The deadline to apply is Monday, June 1. Applications are available at Fire Station #1, 828 S.W. Alsbury Blvd. The camp starts at 8 a.m. sharp and wraps up by noon each day.
