Who won the May 9 city council election? 

Keep up with who is making decisions about your City! The winners, and the margins of win, in the three contested races for seats on the Burleson City Council will be posted online on the City of Burleson web site, www.burlesontx.com, after 8 p.m. on Saturday,  May 9.
 
 

Connect-CTY logoPolice host open house Tuesday

In recognition of National Police Week, the Burleson Police Department is hosting its annual Open House on Tuesday, May 12.
 
Check out the equipment and programs and enjoy a free hot dog and soft drink between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the corner of Renfro and Bransom. The donated hot dogs and soft drinks are prepared courtesy of the Burleson Lions Club.
 
Burleson has lost one officer, Janice Vanderveer, in the line of duty.  She died in December 1987 while directing traffic around a crash site.

Meet the members of your City boards and commissions May 16
 
The City of Burleson is hosting a City Boards and Commissions Meet and Greet on Saturday, May 16.
 
Get to know the City volunteers who make recommendations to the Burleson City Council on everything from the parks, cemetery, library and planning and zoning.  The event is 10 a.m.-noon in the council chambers at Burleson City Hall, 141 W. Renfro St. 
 
The boards and commissions include the planning and zoning commission, zoning board of adjustments, library board, Old Town development standards review board, parks board, animal shelter advisory committee, Mayor's Youth Council and cemetery board.
 

 
The Killdares kick off Hot Sounds of Summer concert series in Old Town

The streets of Old Town Burleson will be rocking with the Celtic sounds of The Killdares as the City of Burleson's Hot Sounds of Summer Concert series opens on Friday, May 29.
 
The free Hot Sounds of Summer concerts fill the streets between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. every Friday between May 29 and June 26. The stage is set up at the corner of Ellison and Wilson streets, next to Burleson City Hall.

Police Open House is May 12

SWAT, hostage negotiators, Citizens Police Academy, Citizens On Patrol, traffic unit, Burleson Police Officers Association, school resource officers, community services and telecommunicators will be on hand to display department equipment and answer questions at the open house May 12.
