It has been the hottest year on record for the Northeast U.S. The average temperature reported from January to July was 49.9 degrees, making it the hottest seven-month period in over 100 years.
In July, Syracuse hit 101, Washington's Reagan National airport hit 105, LaGuardia Airport in New York City hit 101 degrees; Baltimore and Newark, N.J., recorded 104 degrees; and Philadelphia 100 degrees.
