Greetings!
Welcome to this issue of Murata News.
We're making our plans to attend IMTS 2010 and hope that you are as well. Muratec will introduce three new machines at this year's show - the MT200G/T3, ML400 and MW50. The MT200G/T3, a new multi-tasking, twin spindle machine with three turrets and gantry loader, is an excellent choice for facilities running complex parts and various part types through one machine. The CNC gantry loader provides a
multitude of options when it comes to automation, and when combined with a bar
feeder, the choice of processing part types is endless. Muratec's ML400 super-compact shaft turning machine allows for the automated turning of shaft parts up to 400 mm (15.7") in length and up to 200 mm (7.9") in diameter.
The compact, energy saving MW50 is
designed for compact line operation, flexibility in manufacturing, and easy set-up change. This automated CNC turning
center targets parts that are 50 mm (2") x 50 mm (2") and features twin horizontal
spindles and twin 4 station tool blocks. Cycle time
reductions can be achieved due to the high speed gantry, fast load/unload times
(4.5s) and reduced machine idle times. We'll have lots for you to see at the Muratec booth. Hope to see you in Chicago in September!

MT-12 Inline Opposed Twin Spindle CNC Turning Machine
By Keith Wilson, Regional Manager
The MT Series offers the ultimate in
manufacturing flexibility. With the
option to run either the gantry loader for more net shaped parts, connect a bar
feeder for bar work or to load shaft work, the MT series is ready to provide a
full range of possibilities for your manufacturing needs. Integrated turning & machining from all directions in one machine set-up | The MT Series comes in four models: MT 12, MT
20, MT 25 and the MT 200. All four
models have the option for our three-axis gantry loader, Y axis on all
turret positions and live tooling. Each
turret is standard with 15 stations giving the ability to tool up for many
parts or redundant tooling for longer runs. The y axis goes up to +/- 60mm for the ability to do more work in one
setup. Murata has developed the user friendly MT Series taking into account the modern day needs of the industry such as ease of operation, precision machining, compactness, unattended machining capabilities and integration of operations to enable complete machining processes in one machine while providing low cost manufacturing. All of this along with the turnkey capability, service and support of Murata Machinery USA make this machine a true profit center.

TechTips 10 kg Coolant Pressure Upgrade
By Jonathan Grigg, Application Technician
Are you having problems with chips while drilling or boring? Try upgrading your coolant pumps to 10 kg.
Most of our stock machines have 4 kg coolant pumps and this works great for most applications. However, if you are deep hole drilling or boring, it is very important to clear the chips for better tool life and surface finish. Muratec 4 kg coolant pumps produce about 60 psi while the 10 kg pumps produce about 140 psi. In the end, adding this upgrade gives you twice as much coolant pressure, better chip evacuation and better tool life.

MML Machine Tool Division Engineering Department
 | Murata Machinery, Ltd. International Meeting Held
By Larry Pellegrini, Sr. Director, Operations
MMUSA Machine Tool Division representatives met
in Inuyama, Japan in April for the semiannual meeting with our parent company, Murata
Machinery, LTD (MML). The two groups meet to discuss new machine designs,
market requirements, and exchange information on new machine tool applications.
During this trip, a number of new machine concepts were
presented for our opinion. MML's Machine Tools Division has a design and
application staff of over 250 engineers, plus a world-class R&D
organization. We presented to MML a
detailed preview of our IMTS 2010 booth, and MML presented an outline of
their participation at JIMTOF (the international machine tool show in Japan,
this year in October). We took the train to Kyoto and visited the headquarters of Murata
Machinery LTD and R&D Center. We were fortunate to have a presentation
from the other MML divisions (Textile, Logistics & Automation, and
Communications), and an exciting presentation on the latest developments at our
R&D Center. Murata Machinery LTD is truly an exciting and diverse company
committed to its customers worldwide.

GETTING TO KNOW MMUSA
Keith Wilson - Regional Manager
As Southeast (Atlantic Coast)
Regional Manager for the Turning Division, Keith Wilson
brings a wealth of knowledge and humor to the job. To be in this business lately you need a
sense of humor!
Keith has experience with all types
of chip making equipment from ~15 years in the metal working
machinery business. (His educational
background is lacking since he went to the University of Georgia!) In addition to extensive knowledge of
turning, Keith has much experience with milling and other secondary processes
that make him uniquely qualified as a consultant in the turning business.
If that isn't enough to convince
you that Keith Wilson is the right person to talk to about turning solutions,
just remember that he's a really nice guy and will always do the right thing!
