Muratec to Exhibit at EMO
By Jeff Kalmbach, Engineering Manager
We'd like to hear from you if you plan to attend EMO. Click here and let us know your plans so we can schedule time to visit. Kevin Wigington, General Manager, and Jeff Kalmbach, Engineering Manager, will attend from MMUSA. Muratec's booth will be located in Hall 5, Stand C27.
Murata will exhibit the ML400G-T2 and MT200G-T3, the newest additions to our product line, along with the MD120G:
ML400G-T2 - Single spindle with two six-station turrets. Upper and lower turret designed for simultaneous cutting.
- 15Kw (20 HP) spindle motor
- 20 mm (7.9") diameter x 400 mm (15.7") length capacity
- CNC servo-controlled tailstock
- CNC controlled roller support
The ML400 series machine is designed with the manufacture of shaft-type parts in mind. With the twin turrets (upper and lower), cycle time reductions can be realized by pinch turning. By utilizing the CNC servo controlled roller support, it is possible to perform end and ID work on shaft parts. This new machine is available with one or two turrets and with or without the proven Muratec high speed 3-axis CNC gantry loader.
MT200G-T3 - New multi-tasking, two spindle turning machine with three turrets and gantry loader
- Two upper (15 station) and one lower (12 station) turrets
- 15kW (20 HP) spindle motors
- 51 mm or 65 mm bar capacities
- 65 mm (2.6") diameter x 160 mm (6.3") length capacity for gantry loader
- Live Tool Motor - 5.5 kW power on all turret stations (4,500 RPM)
- Y-axis 80mm stroke - all three turrets
The MT200 machine is an excellent choice for complex parts and facilities that run various part types through one machine. The CNC gantry loader provides a multitude of options when it comes to automation. By combining a barfeeder along with the gantry loaded machine, your choice of part types for processing on this machine are endless.
There will be lots more to see at the Muratec booth in Milan. We hope to see you at the show!

Rotary Unions
By David Smith, Field Service Engineer-Trainer
Proper installation and maintenance are the key to excellent performance and long life for rotary unions and can save your operation money and down-time.
Rotary unions are devices that feed fluid or air from a stationery source such as a supply line to a moving or rotating piece of equipment. Rotary unions serve two purposes: (1) They supply air and coolant thru the spindle, and (2) Supply air for the work location confirmation signal INSTALLATIONThe key to installing rotary unions is to properly install the mounting plate first. If the plate is not properly mounted, you will not be able to install the rotary union correctly. Below is the procedure for installing the mounting plate.
