by Gerry Wakeland | What are you waiting for?
"Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they
will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they
will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31 NAS
Over the last few weeks I have had the opportunity to speak
with many of our CLASS Alumni. Throughout these conversations there seems to be
a common thread. It goes something like this.
"After I took the CLASSeminar life got in the way and I just
never got my speaking/writing off the ground." Or, "My family needed me and I
have not been able to fulfill God's call on my life." Or, "I was just so
overwhelmed I didn't know where to start so I did nothing, but now I'm ready."
It's true; our journey is often filled with detours. Life
does get in the way and sometimes we find ourselves in God's waiting room. No
matter what the reason, there are times when God places us in that waiting room
for a season. It's what we do while we're in the waiting room that counts. We
need to be intentional about our actions while we are waiting.
Some of you may have heard the introduction I give at the
CLASSeminar. In this introduction I share about the first time I heard Florence
Littauer speak. The two words that stayed with me that day were, "Get ready." At the time I was in a waiting room, one that lasted almost 10 years.
During that period God revealed ways for me to "get ready" while He kept me
waiting.
|
"You cannot change anything in your
life with intention alone, which can become a watered-down, occasional
hope that you'll get to tomorrow. Intention without action is useless."
- Caroline Myss

"Action is a great restorer
and builder of confidence.
Inaction is not only the
result, but the cause, of fear.
Perhaps the action you take
will be successful;
Perhaps different action or
adjustments will have to follow.
But any action is better than
no action at all."
- Norman Vincent Peale

by Pam Christian | Initiative is the Key
Ingredient to Making Lemonade
Most have heard the old adage, "If life hands you lemons,
make lemonade." Excellent advice
that we all affirm, but precious few apply. "How do I make lemonade? How much should I make? What do I do with it once I've made it?" These questions are the sort that usher
in doubt and confusion that lead to immobility. "When in doubt, don't," is another adage that has its merit,
but not necessarily when it comes to dealing with life's lemons.
When faced with a "lemon problem" ask yourself "Which would
I rather do, suck on lemons or sip on lemonade?" Let this perspective become your motivator, not doubt and
confusion. Then you'll be able to
successfully maneuver through any of life's lemons, and also help others.
Read how Pam used her initiative to make lemonade.
Pam Christian is a broadcaster, keynote speaker and author
who draws from her myriad of life's lemons to overcome and become ""your most
trusted life advocate." Visit her web site to learn more about her seminar and products, and visit wydk.org and her blog.

Nonfiction Writing - Blogging - Social Media Coach...Lee Warren
Armchair quarterbacks and amateur sports fanatics dabble in
their field of interest because they love the game. However, successful and
professional sports players take the initiative to find a great coach to help
them learn to focus on what's important to win their game as well as for clear
directions on the steps necessary to achieve success.
Lee Warren A Write Start Communications | Writers approach Lee Warren and ask if he will coach them in
making nonfiction ideas and projects more marketable and salable to a publisher.
Warren says, "Many nonfiction writers get the order of
events wrong. They will write a manuscript first without regard to what the
market or the publisher wants. Their better approach is to focus on writing a
good, solid book proposal."
This is one of many areas where employing Warren's
experience and expertise helps writers. He provides market-savvy reality checks
on nonfiction book proposals. Click here to read more.

A Pocket Parable
What did you hide in your pockets when you were a kid? What
do you keep in your pockets now? Perhaps there is a treasure stuffed into your
pocket right now!
It was Poppa's birthday, and there was never a little boy
more anxious to please his grandfather than Lance. The family party with cake
and gifts was not enough for Lance. He was a big boy now. He was three years
old and he wanted to give his own present.
CLASS faculty member, Dr. Sandra Herron at age 4 began her career as a story teller
as she customized The Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs to the
delight of
her listeners. Today she uses stories as metaphor in her speaking, Life
Skills
Coaching, teaching and coaching speakers.

by Pamela Sonnenmoser | Personality Trainer Gives Back
Cheri Gregory Donates Award Money to Scholarship Fund | Class faculty member, Cheri Gregory received the 2009
Excellence in Teaching Award for the North American Region from the Alumni
Awards Foundation. Cheri is a high school English Teacher at Monterey Bay
Academy in Northern California.
Cheri attended CLASS for the first time in 1993. In 2005
Cheri became a Certified Personality Trainer. Her understanding of the
personalities changed the way she looked at relationships in her life. Cheri
began using the knowledge and insights gained through The Personalities in her
classroom.
"I have stayed in the teaching profession for two
decades. I could not possibly have
done so without knowing my own Personality strengths, weaknesses, and needs;
and being able to assess the same of my students and my administrators and
colleagues." Cheri said. "The ability to adapt my approach to meet the central
need of a "difficult" or "unreachable" student, colleague
or supervisor has given me effectiveness and influence."
CLASS faculty member Pamela Sonnenmoser is a freelance
writer, speaker and Certified Personality Trainer. She is on the board of directors
for His Song Ministries and leads women's ministries in her home state, Missouri. Pamela is the owner of PKS Training and Consulting.

How have YOU used the personality training?
"I was trained in
the early 90s and I've used the training to help hundreds of people since
then. As a high school teacher I've trained teachers and students from
K-12th grade. Recently I did a workshop for 60 home school
parents. They loved the insight into their home school students! I've
presented the personalities to teachers at an ACSI conference and to moms at
women's retreats. The information is so valuable it's a joy to help others learn to identify their own and others' personality traits and to teach them to "if possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men". (Romans
12:18)
- Donna Jones
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Since becoming a Certified Personality Trainer in
2007, I have created a fun
and
informative women's retreat called "Gracious Girls", taught
financial personality presentations for a local credit union, taught a
community course at our local branch of UNM and currently host monthly personality
webinars on Christian Women Affiliate.com. One of the best things about
teaching The Personalities is seeing the revelations that my "students"
experience in their personal lives and with those around them."

by Tama Westman | Out of the Overflow
"Are you
kidding me?" My son repeated this at varying heights of emotion during a recent conversation. He'd learned
that vast amounts of money could be had if only I'd sign ancestral scrolls.
Now, I don't deny my heritage. In fact, I delight in the fact that my great-great
grandmother was the daughter of the Chief of the Seneca nation. She was married off at the age of 12 to a traveling shoe salesman from Elmira, NY.
However, their grandson, my paternal grandfather, grew up to be a
minister, a man who started over 100 churches in his lifetime. Grandpa drew a
line in the sand by refusing to sign his mother's ancestral scrolls. He said he
would not be counted with a nation that denied the Lord, instead he would be
counted with the saints.
Read how a 100-year old decision still stands.

 | A Note from the Editor
This issue of the Communiqué encourages you to be intentional and to use initiative. John Maxwell says, "Initiative activates your talent."
See the power of initiative when you read the account of Paul in Acts 27. Imprisoned on a ship, without any rights or authority, his initiative saved the day when the ship and crew experienced a storm.
