Greetings!                             Oct. 4, 2012

Expect the "wurst" and network with the best at next Tuesday's Business After Hours ...

... and realize the value of your Chamber membership in other ways this fall as you make connections through Chamber activities and programs.

Activities for Chamber members are designed to promote and provide referral opportunities for your business, to educate you about current affairs, to reinforce you in growing your business, and to support the local economy through collaborative efforts with the City of Worthington and advocacy efforts for local businesses.

wurst und bier logo Among our most popular connection-building opportunities is the monthly Business After Hours event that showcases a local, hosting Chamber-member business and provides an environment for meaningful business-to-business exchanges and recognition of member businesses. This month, you can expect the "wurst" (and network with some of the best businesses in the area) when you attend our Business After Hours hosted by Wurst und Bier. See the related article below for the details, and don't miss this opportunity to enjoy seasonal food and beverages, in addition to great networking.

Wurst und Bier wisely scheduled the Oktoberfest season to showcase its line of sausages, beers and other delicious offerings. Other Chamber businesses are now securing dates for 2013 to lock in contractual arrangements to host Business After Hours arrangements for the coming year. A few spots for 2013 are still available. If your business is interesting in hosting a BAH and sponsoring the related food and beverages, please contact the Chamber office at (614) 888-3040. (We can also accept reservations for Business After Hours or Business Before Hours hosts in 2014, so don't hesitate to contact us if that fits your marketing and financial plans.) Don't dismay if your business is too small to host a large crowd; contact us to find out if you are a good fit to host a QuickConnect speed networking session; a Lunch & Learn; a subgroup meeting for young professionals or home-based business owners; a business book discussion group; a new member orientation; or other types of chamber events for smaller audiences.

breast cancer ribbon and rose October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Chamber's Women's Business Network has an exceptional speaker from OSU's James Cancer Center and Solove Research Institute lined up to detail the latest in treatment methods. See the related article below, along with other opportunities to make connects.

Call us at 888-3040 to let us know how we can help you make great connections this month.

This year's event included a dedication ceremony unveiling a historical marker on the southeast Village Green - and the AAA Hospitality Area, a rest stop of canopied tables where Market Day visitors could relax and enjoy a beverage or food from their favorite restaurant vendor.

The historical marker dedication on the Village Green included comments from elected officials, the Old Worthington Association, the Worthington Historic District Committee, and the Ohio Historical Society.

AAA rest stop The rest area, sponsored by AAA Ohio Auto Club and located on the east side of High Street near the Worthington United Methodist Church, provided maps and information, as well as cold beverages, water and treats for pets.

Several local restaurants were among those offering food, including The Worthington Inn, J. Liu Restaurant & Bar, Gallo's Pit BBQ, and Mrs. Goodman's Baking Co., as well as sweet treats from Emlolly and Cheryl's. Two food trucks, numerous food concessionaires, and several community groups serving brats and other picnic-style treats, also served hungry Market Day visitors.
