Celebrate all small businesses and honor one of our own at Small Business Person Award Luncheon May 22

Kay Lakhi
Join us at the luncheon to congratulate Kay Lakhi, president of The Rite Bite,

Twitter is topic of YPoW's new  "Lunch Bunch" program
YPoW logo no sponsor
Young Professionals of Worthington (YPoW) invites you to the "Lunch Bunch" for young professionals ages 21-39 who are members of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce. The group offers opportunities for networking, social interaction, community service and philanthropy, and professional development.

The Lunch Bunch is YP0W's newest and most informal activity -- an opportunity to learn about and discuss a topic of mutual interest or expertise from one of our members or an invited speaker.

What to bring: a "brown bag" lunch and beverage from home or your favorite fast food restaurant; your ideas; desire to meet other YPoW participants; and willingness to exchange ideas and business leads.

The Lunch Bunch will convene every other month on the second Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at varying Chamber-member locations.

Our first session, on May 11, will focus on ... Twitter!

Are you interested in becoming a member of the Twitterati? Do you have a message to broadcast to the world in 140 characters or less? Or are you just wondering what everyone is Tweeting for? Learn all about how to put this social networking and microblogging site to work for you and your business, as Young Professionals of Worthington (YPoW) kicks off a new "Lunch Bunch" series just for young professionals.

Brian Dwyer, account executive at CSC, will discuss the ins and outs of using Twitter, the site that boasts over 100 million users sending short, timely "Tweets" to their followers worldwide. The event will be held at CSC's new facility at 7420 Worthington-Galena Road.

Are you a potential discussion leader for a future Lunch Bunch? Let us know your topic, qualifying credentials and other pertinent details, so we can schedule you for an upcoming session. Contact YPoW co-chair Katie Berry at 614) 432-1373.

Meet County Recorder Daphne Hawk and congratulate our scholarship winners at Women's Business Network

The Women's Business Network of the Chamber invites all Chamber members* to a luncheon workshop on  Friday, May 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Champps Americana, 161 E. Campus View Blvd.

Enjoy networking with other business women while you greet our 2012 scholarship winners from Thomas Worthington and Worthington Kilbourne High Schools.

Daphne Hawk

Then ... Think your file cabinet is full? Imagine the number of documents overseen by Daphne Hawk, Franklin County Recorder.

Daphne, the keynote speaker for the Women's Business Network luncheon, is the county's 27th Recorder and the first female to hold the post.

The County Recorder is responsible for keeping land records, including all transfers, divisions, deeds, mortgages and any other lien or encumbrance. If you have title insurance for land in this county, the search was done using data from the Recorder's office.

The office also records important personal documents such as military discharges papers, health care powers of attorney, and living wills so your family or doctor can locate them when needed. The Recorder's office also keeps record of all veterans' grave locations throughout the county.

Cost: $25/Chamber members; $35/non-members. Support our scholarship fund by making announcements ($5/member; $10/guest), distributing promotional literature or samples ($10), and participating in door prize drawings ($1/member/guest).

Reservations are required by May 22. Reserve your place (and pay by credit card, if desired) by clicking "COMING UP" on the screen at right. Follow the prompts, and click "SUBMIT" when finished. You'll receive a confirmation e-mail when successfully registered.
