HELP US SHOW OUR TROOPS THAT WE CARE - 
Fundraiser lasts through 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 Quality Computer Service, a veteran-owned Chamber-member business, is holding a fundraiser to provide our troops overseas with Avon Comforts of Home products. For only $10, you can send a care package of personal items to the troops. Each care package includes: one full-size shampoo; one full-size conditioner; two roll-on anti-perspirants; and one lip ointment.
Four dollars of each purchase will go toward supporting the USO's USO2GO programs that provide emergency relief, family assistance, entertainment tours and more. You will receive a post card to let you know that your purchase has been sent to the troops and it will include an email address so that you can send a message of support and thanks. QCS' goal is to provide at least 250 personal care packages.

 In honor of Veterans Day, the Chamber salutes the many veteran-owned businesses among our Chamber membership -- business owners like Bill Chesnut of Quality Computer Service, John Skaggs of CSGraphics, Tom Ellis of Tom Ellis Insurance Services, Travis Timmons of Fitness Matters and many, many others who have served our country and contributed to freedom and free enterprise. If your Chamber-member business is owned by a veteran, please e-mail us at the Chamber office to accept and schedule a free "e-sert" in a future issue of ChamberLinks. Thank you for your service! We're also thankful to several dozen Chamber members who have been busy recruiting new members during the past 10 days during our annual membership drive. Our "Fill it Up" themed drive continues through next Tuesday, Nov. 15. During the drive, prospective members are offered an incentive of $25 off the one-time processing fee, as well as a package of money-saving coupons.
And ... Each time you recruit a member, a ticket with your name and the new member's name goes into our "Fill It Up" raffle drum and gives you an additional chance to win a package filled with prizes ranging from gasoline, dental services and dry cleaning to business coaching, a water park overnight package and restaurant gift certificates. Save the date for a new Chamber-sponsored community event for euchre enthusiasts -- and anyone who enjoys a good bowl of chili on a cold Saturday afternoon. A group of Chamber volunteers is planning a Euchre Tournament & Chili Cook-off at York Golf Club on Saturday, Jan. 14, tentatively from 4-8 p.m. Please mark your calendars and let us know if you are interested in competing in either part of the event.

Meet elected officials, view renovation progress Nov. 15
at Business After Hours at Shops at Worthington Place
| Chamber members will have an opportunity to meet and mingle with elected officials and public servants at our next Business After Hours, on Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
The Shops at Worthington Place (formerly Worthington Square Mall) will host the event; Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington and Cheryl's are co-sponsors.
Don't miss this annual opportunity for face-to-face communication with legislators and leaders serving the Worthington area -- as well as a chance to view the progress of Worthington Place renovations and sample find food and beverages from Holiday Inn and Cheryl's.
As part of the event, Mayor Harvey Minton will make a special presentation honoring the developers and mall merchants who are committed to the Shops at Worthington Place renovation project.
An additional highlight will be the drawing of a winner of the Chamber's "Fill it Up" membership drive contest (see details above). Any member who has recruited another member during the year is eligible; the more members you recruit, the better your chances of winning a prize package.
Monthly Business After Hours (BAH) events are designed to give Worthington Chamber members the opportunity to network with other members in an informal setting and to learn more about Chamber member businesses.
We encourage pre-registration. Select "REGISTER NOW" above to reach the online registration page, and follow the registration prompts. Be sure to click "SUBMIT." You'll receive an e-mail confirmation when successfully registered. Members who pre-register on our website by Nov. 14 at noon will receive preprinted name tags, eligibility for extra door prizes, and listing in the "Know Before You Go" section of the Website.

YPoW celebrates first anniversary at Nov. 10 mixer
| Young Professionals of Worthington (YPoW) invite professionals ages 21-39 to celebrate YPoW's first "official" anniversary on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
 The event is hosted and sponsored by G Worthy's, 2151 W. Dublin-Granville Road, Worthington. Thanks to Mike Wilkins, who has been an avid supporter of YPoW since its inception.
The Chamber's young professionals, ages 21-39, and prospects who are considering participation in YPoW, will celebrate a successful year since they launched their leadership team and implemented an activities plan that included networking, professional development, community service and philanthropy, and social opportunities.
Fittingly, YPoW guests will celebrate at G Worthy's, where it all started. There will be great networking opportunities, a door prize and "ice breakers." Members and guests will enjoy appetizers provided by G Worthy's and drinks at Happy Hour prices.
In the spirit of the Thanksgiving season, please bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Worthington Food Pantry. Items in special need are canned fruit, boxed pasta and boxed rice. Thanksgiving dinner menu items are welcomed, as well.

Are you new to the Chamber? Take the opportunity to meet other new members and learn about Chamber programs and services at a quarterly orientation meeting, designed to help you get the most from your membership and jump-start your involvement.
 Our Nov. 17 new member event will be held in the computer lab at DeVry University's Polaris Campus, 8800 Lyra Drive, Suite 120, Columbus 43240.
New members and new contacts at current member businesses are encouraged to attend. Attendees have the opportunity to promote their businesses while learning about Chamber initiatives, programs and services to help them grow their businesses. Use of Chamber website features, advertising and promotional opportunities, and ways to get involved are among the topics.

Ready, set ... QuickConnect to get new business leads
|
Get Ready ... Get Set ... QuickConnect!
QuickConnect is the Chamber's direct sales opportunity for members, giving participants the opportunity to determine quickly if there is a fit in meeting each other's business or personal consumer needs. It's fun, fast and very effective.
The next QuickConnect session will be held at the SERVPRO of NW Columbus, 7440 Pingue Dr., Worthington 43085 (off Worthington-Woods Boulevard), on Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (Check-in is at 9:45 a.m. Please be sure to arrive at this time so the start of the timed exercise will not be delayed.)
 The QuickConnect session is structured so that each participant will make one-on-one contact with 10 others. Participants face each other and have 90 seconds to discuss their company's products or services. Following each contact, participants indicate the next steps, including talking further about doing business; not a fit; and offering a referral.
Prior to the session, participants are provided a business profile/feedback form to complete and bring 11 copies to the session.
Please note: You should plan to attend QuickConnect ONLY if you have received a confirmation of your attendance and a copy of the questionnaire to complete, or a notice that your business category is full and you will scheduled at another date. Considerable care is taken to match QuickConnect participants with other Chamber connections. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate walk-ins or unregistered attendees for this session.
For the same reasons, it is important that you contact us to cancel if you will be unable to fill your scheduled space at QuickConnect so that we can rearrange the networking layout to ensure others are not inconvenienced. QuickConnect is free for members who pre-register and honor their reservations -- but there will be a $20 fee for those who do not attend the session if they have not provided advance notice of their cancellation.
To make the session as meaningful as possible to participants, the number of businesses from a single business category (banks, insurance, financial services, etc.) will be limited to two businesses. In addition, members who have not previously participated in QuickConnect are given preference over those from the same business category who have attended a recent session. This procedure expands interest in QuickConnect and helps all participants receive the maximum benefit from the exercise.
